PLEASE NOTE: It was Cleo, back in 1978, in a letter to a Georgia
correspondent, who explained why her Georgia Chamlees became Texas
ChamBlees when her grandfather John Chamlee migrated from Georgia to
Atlanta, Texas. . .
John Chamlee (twin of James -- "Jim") was born 1843 in Georgia. He died
in Cass County, Texas, 1904. He was married to Martha Hesentine Thomas.
John and Jim Chamlee were sons of William F. Chamlee (1818-1909),
married to Elizabeth A. Pugh of Cherokee County, GA. William F. Chamlee
was a son of William and Dorcas (Sego) Chamlee who moved from Pendleton
District, South Carolina, before 1820, to Hall County first, then to
Cherokee County, Georgia.
