Dear Chamblee List:
A few weeks ago I have changed the Chamblee List so that when you hit "reply"
in your mail program the mail will be sent back to the list and not the
person posting on the list. Remember that if you want to respond to someone
personally, do NOT hit your reply button after you read your Chamblee mail.
You will need to copy/paste in their e-mail address and then send it.
I, for one, tend to answer people privately not wanting to bother everyone
with e-mail not connected with their direct lines.
There are 107 members on this list, 39 of those members I have never heard of
and they have never stated their ancestral line or come forth to volunteer
any information. (I keep a little chart as well as the Excel spread sheet on
all cousins researching Chamlee, Chamblee, Shambley, et al lines in the US).
Of the 106, 16 of those on the list are not on the Chamlee/Chamblee Family
Network site. This would never be mandatory, but I have always wondered why
some of you did not make a comment when your ancestral photos were added to
the site. <smile>
There are also people on the Chamlee/Chamblee site not on this mailing list.
You certainly may do what you wish but I know that Anne, Jack and I will post
things on this list we don't put on the site and vice versa. Just so you know.
Please realize that all ancestral roads on this name (and other name
derivations) lead to the same early people. The exception are some later
records where people came over around 1840. Those individuals are easy to
separate. Thus, since you are all "basically" related to the same geographic
area, it would be terrific if all you silent people would tell us who we are.
We just may be able to help you. If you feel shy about posting to the list,
e-mail me personally!
At the bottom of the page I am listing alot of the alternate spellings I have
found in federal, state, local records so you can be aware of creative
spellings. Hope this helps.
I have been picking up odd people in the 1880 census....
Know of these people?

[Nancy and Jim would have been born 1816, 1820. There IS a possibility that
this could be Chamless if the census taker misheard. Often record abstractors
look at CHAMBLEE and CHAMLEE and think the e's are s's and vice verse.
