Including info below from e-mail sent from the ubiquitous Bob Snipes. Please
check with him for more details. He is a big force in the Snipes Family of
America group and a great guy.
"Mathew Snipes (1804 - 1885) was born in Smithfield, Johnston County, NC
and died in Anderson, SC. It is conjectured that Mathew was the fifth of
seven children of John Snipes of Wake Co., NC. Mathew married first,
Elizabeth Chamblee. Their 7 children were: Alvin, Mary, Elisha, William,
Sion, Lewis and Mathew A. (Alvin is a conjecture.) Mathew married a
second time to Elizabeth McCown*. They also had 7 children: Thompson,
Mary Jane, James Oliver, Baylis Crayton, Nancy Amanda, Florence and America
Louise."
There are many members of the Snipes organization who descend from Matthew
and his wives.

July 2, 1832 - John Chamblee being over 14 yrs & under 21 shows that his
father Zadock Chamblee dec'd departed this life intestate and that James
Chamblee be appointed a guardian. (Court OKs James Chamblee as guardian to
John Chamblee) Moses Chamblee states he is the eldest son of Zadock Chamblee
and requests a guardian for Lewis Chamblee, the youngest of the family, who
is under 14 years old and the guardian be James Chamblee. July 2, 1832.
Elisha & Susan Chamblee are minors over 14 years old and under 21 and
entitled to an interest in their dec'd father's estate, Zadock Chamblee and
request that their brother-in-law Matthew Snipes be appointed guardian.

Estate sale of Zadock: Robert Bagwell purchased family bible. Moses Chamblee
236.5 acres of/and, one bible; James Chamblee, 100 acres and one bible;
Martin Phillips cattle and bible; Matthew Snipes, cattle and bible. [A BIBLE!]
Feb 1848 James Chamblee still guardian for Lewis Chamblee May 1846 in
Anderson Co Co SC cleared account with Lewis Chamblee by paying him
remanining funds of his share of Zadock's estate.
