As many of you may know, MyFamily is changing their limit of space for
photos
from 75 MG down to 5 MG. The free status will change to pay status
for over
5 MG. We are at 45.53 MG for total space used on this site. In March
MyFamily
will charge for any space over 5 MG used.
I've a few questions.
How much are they planning to charge? Is it a large fee?
What are the options re free sites?
I'd be willing to chip in a nominal amount to avoid having the site on one
of the more irritating commercial packed boards. Even My Family has
distracting amount of blinking ads.
If we have 45.53 MG now, wouldn't we have to divide into 10 sites to get
under 5 MG each?
I'd like to know what everyone else thinks who uses the site.

Many people are moving their sites to other places. I have no idea what we
are going to do at this point.
There are ways to save space:
--Uploading files instead of posting the info in History.
--Many of the photos need to be resized and are uploaded in gigantic
sizes--this is very time consuming for me, so I have put it off as long as
possible.
--Delete old news items
--Change alot of the history to files, perhaps they compress, I know they
are
smaller.
--Move over info I don't care about to the main page of the website that is
in public sight.
Even after all that, it would be impossible to get it under 5 MG--we do have
alot of actual research there.
One little thought has been that I can link MyFamily sites together. One
site
for Robert Chamblee's descendents, one for Jacob's
descendents, etc. This
would work well for us because of the way the site is now organized. If you
combine all your passwords you can travel between sites very easily.
Until further notice, please send all ancestral photos to me directly for
uploading. I will try to shrink the size as much as possible. Do NOT upload
photos yourself from this point on.
Also, please do not put up any contermporary photos. If there is a question,
please e-mail me.
Until then I need to find time to do a little janitor work.
Let me know your thoughts
