The little bit I have shows Gatsey Chamblee (Chamlee) was a daughter of
Martin Chamlee (his name is very frequently written as Chamblee) and she
married Francis Pugh.
Gatsey Pugh is named in Martin's will.
Martin Chamlee was the first child (I think) of William and Dorcas Sego
Chamlee (also often written as Chamblee, but we have to remember that
name has many spellings in the hands of court recorders and other public
record keepers) --
As I understand it, Gatsey Chamlee/blee was the offspring from Martin's
second marriage to Annie Bailey (he was first married to Polly
Guthery). Gatsey's siblings were Nancy, who married Mitchell Day;
Judge, who married Rhoda Puckett and Louise Landrum, and Mollie, who
married Mr. Poole and then William Irvin.
A number of years ago I had correspondence with Talmadge G. Rutledge of
Oakton, Virginia, who is a descendant of Martin Chamlee born 1807. He
says Gatsey was born 1832 and married Francis E. Pugh. Among their
children was Rosa Estelle Pugh who married James G. Rutledge and became
the parents of Talmadge G. Rutledge.
William and Dorcas Sego Chamlee also had a son named William F. Chamlee
born 1818 died 1909. He married Elizabeth A. Pugh born 1827 died 1907
and both are buried in the Pugh Family Cemetery off Epperson Road in
Cherokee County, GA.
This is all I have on this subject. . .
