There appears to be some confusion in your last message. This is what I have,
some of it still unconfirmed.
The children of Sanford Chamblee b. abt 1820 in SC and Susan Cain Masters b. abt
1822 in SC are:
1. William Rufus Chamblee b. 1852 in SC married Louisa J. Boroughs.
2. Lewis Dillard Chamblee b. Sept. 19, 1854 in SC d. Oct. 22, 1919 buried at
Hopewell, Dekalb County, Alabama.
3. Sarah P. Chamblee b. abt 1857 in SC.
4. Nancy E. Chamblee b. abt 1857 in SC.
5. Eliza Chamblee b. abt 1859 in SC.
Appleton Burse Chamblee b. May 3, 1879 in AL is the son of William Rufus
Chamblee.
Appleton married Margaret Ann Wilkes b. July 15, 1878 in Dekalb County, Alabama.
Their children are:
1. Attie Delora Chamblee b. Aug. 19, 1898.
2. Walter Albert Chamblee b. Sept. 6, 1901.
3. Steve Wesley Chamblee b. Apr. 1, 1903.
4. Zula 'Sular' Chamblee b. Oct. 19, 1905.
5. Jessee Chamblee b. May 22, 1908.
6. John Denson Chamblee b. Oct. 10, 1910 (my uncle).
7. James Leslie Chamblee b. Sept. 19, 1915.
8. Cora Chamblee b. Dec. 10, 1917.
Sorry if I repeated some of the things I have already sent to you, but I hope
this clears some of our misunderstandings.

Hi again:
Sorry no one has responded to your question adequately yet. Been traveling
alot this year and mail gets lost alot these days. Anne and others also busy,
but we try, thanks for your patience.
Have you tried to reverify all this with the 1860, 1860, 1870, etc censuses
for Sanford's family and all their children as heads of household? Surely
Appleton will show up if he is there at least by 1880 as a child in someone's
household--betting it is William Chamblee's.I encourage you to carefully do
some census studies to figure this out.
There is a HUGE span from the first child of Sanford Chamblee, William b. ca
1852 to your Appleton b. 1879. I only have four children for Sanford with the
last being born 1857. I still think the "Bub" as a child of William Rufus
Chamblee, oldest son of Sanford C. Chamblee in 1879 or the next born,
"Bunion" is more likely. Nicknaming and "mishearing" was common by
record
takers. "Appleton" could be very much one of these guys.
All the children of Sanford's only other son, Lewis Dillard Chamblee, are
accounted for with definite birthdates, names, spouses.
I've never pulled any of the estate papers for Sanford C. Chamblee and all
this sons, you could also do that and see what hatches!
My best,
D'Ann
