Most genealogical sites are free. Sites like
Ancestry.com and
Everton.com
will offer you an amazing amount of free information, but charge a nominal
fee for entrance to a database of records they have compiled themselves.
Unfortunately, there are people who would exploit free information on the
web. Here's one:

I wonder if
familydiscovery.com has copied genealogial information from other
sites as well and altered it slightly in some way. Wouldn't surprise me.
A few years ago I discovered people who did a similar thing with the info at
the old Chamblee/Chamlee site. A good reason we keep the photos and research
in a secure site now. It's pretty easy to filter out people.
