Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Danny Bunn, like Bill Kemp, goes out of his way to look for information he
bumps into in the records pertinent to our family lines and sends it on.
(Danny is not actually a Chamblee...nice guy, eh?)
--------------
The Franklin Times, Louisburg, NC, dated 5 Jan 1900, ran across the
following article and thought it might be of interest to you.
Bakers Crossroads
Jasper Chamblee who left this county twenty years ago makes his home in
Texas, is visiting his people near here, guest of his brother-in-law
D(unreadable) Floyd.
-------------
This would be Jasper Chamblee, son of John and Frances Baker Chamblee. I
knew Jasper went to Texas but did not know the approximate date nor whom he
married.
Thank you, Danny! (as usual)

Some individuals said they hardly could read what I had previously posted.
So, I will now always post to the list in an older version of
AOL.......reposting this.

Subj: Website is updated

I had forgotten that last year I updated the main page adding a preliminary
page of researchers. Thought I should actually upload this.....
You can view all this at
http://www.nauvoo.com/family/chamblee/index.html
The list of researchers is a long way from being up to date, but you get the
idea.

To respond to a few questions.
RE: List of Researchers at main page, Chamblee site
http://www.nauvoo.com/family/chamblee/list.html
----For the researcher list (above) I am still working on the page and am
adding names. I am going through my long list to doublecheck and add. If you
see your name NOT on this list, you can speed things up by simply e-mailing
me with your line. Example: Robert/Jarred/Lucinda/ etc
----The search engines will eventually pick up your name, but the e-mail is
not listed so this listing will not generate spam junk mail but it will
generate other people working on your same line.
----Just a reminder to try to share your old photos with all your cousins.
Nice to share a census, marriage record, or anything else, too. Thanks for
all you do for the world of Chamlee, Chamblee (all spellings) genealogy!
----If you forward me your photos, I can resize them to meet the space
requirements. I'll keep the original size on my computer for people who
request it.
----Keep hammering me if I ever promised you info, etc., and you never
received anything. I get going in 50 different directions every day and needs
a secretary. I do not want to disappoint you. Bug me, it's ok.

Someone said they haven't been able to read the garbled mess caused by AOL to
the Rootsweb Chamblee list. I'm reposting a few things.
----------------------
If you didn't know, Rootsweb was bouncing back some list mail if you are on
AOL 6.0. This is because AOL does not use "plain text" in the body of their
e-mail, they programmed hypertext so you can insert photos or send links
within the mail itself.
-----------------------------------
AOL 6.0 users:
Instructions for sending mail in plain text
<< RootsWeb users report the following method will enable AOL version 6.0
users to send plain text e-mails, which will be accepted by our mailing list
servers.
Compile your e-mail
Right click inside the text box
Click Select All (at the bottom of the menu)
Right Click in the text box again
Click Text
Click Normal
Send the e-mail in the usual way In response to our questions, AOL responded
with the following suggestions (abbreviated here):"AOL is aware of some
issues raised by mailing list (LISTSERV) owners and Postmasters whose systems
do not accept richly formatted HTML e-mail. AOL Member Services is currently
"collecting the data" on this issue. In the meantime, the following
alternative methods are available to send plain text only e-mail to Internet
addresses that reject rich formatting.
When authoring e-mail in AOL version 6.0, remove all formatting from the
message body and send the message in the AOL 6.0 default of Arial, size 10
and do not include any bold/italics/underline, colors, or other styles.
Use AOL Mail on the Web located at the site below:
<A HREF="http://www.aol.com/">http://www.aol.com/</A>
You can send e-mail from AOL Mail on the Web to Internet addresses that
reject formatting because AOL Mail on the Web sends mail as plain text only."

Thanks to the generous people who relinquished their ancestral photos for
others. Also, thanks for sharing history and other info for research. Please
take a moment and upload a cemetery survey you did, a will, death
certificate, neighborhood census you took down, land records. This helps
those totally far away from any libraries, family history center, or unable
to purchase county books to research. Justify your entrance to the
site.....please spent a moment to share if you have not done so yet! Thanks
you....

Thanks again to Bill Kemp for keeping eyes open for these things
AOL is having problems sending mail to these Rootsweb lists. Rootsweb has
been blocking some mail because of the AOL html format that is autmatically
used. So just giving this list a test before I taken further measures.
