I tried to get this message, but there wasn't anything written, I am curious
because Isaac is my line and need any help I can get so please send it to me,
Thanks,

Ed Wolverton sent me a gorgeous photo of Jacob Chamblee's home in Greene Co,
AL. Now on the site. Wonder how close it was to the Hortons and Sarah
Elizabeth Chamblee (Horton).
I am always very grateful and touched that so many are willing to share what
they have for the site. This is much better than it was when we had the last
website. This is grand! Keep it up! I am compiling a nice ancestral library
for all your descendents to have access to in the years ahead. I appreciate
you sending me such nice photos.
Anne, Bobbe, and I are continually grateful to you for the actual copies of
records and photos received. It not only helps other people, but we have
researched a smattering of almost every line so we are VERY interested in
seeing sourced documents. They always override oral history and guesswork.
Thank you!
A happy week to all of you....

ENOCH CHAMLEE on tombstone picture MyFamily.com was a descendant of
William and Dorcas Chamlee (CHAMLEE, not Chamblee -- although we all
know the name has been spelled both ways by everyone) -- but a son of
William Chamlee, whose father was Jacob Chamlee, who spelled his named
CHAMLEE in his bible would more than likely continue that spelling.
People who wrote it down HEARD a "b" and thus wrote it that way because
they THOUGHT it had a "b" --
The original research of my late mother-in-law, Lillie Archer Chamlee,
indicated the William Chamlee who migrated into Georgia around 1818 from
Anderson, South Carolina, was WILLIAM CHAMBLEE. Mrs. Lillie shared her
work with the library in Macon, GA, and when I saw C-H-A-M-B-L-E-E on
the index card I called it to the attention of the librarian, who
promptly showed me Mrs. Lillie's work with the name spelled Chamblee on
it -- then, as I personally further researched, did indeed find our line
of Chamlees to OFTEN have their names show up as Chamblee, Chamblin,
Chamble, on-and-on -- some of those couldn't read or write and if their
names were spelled wrong, they might not even know it.
The 1880 census of Cherokee County, GA shows
CHAMBLEE, ENOCH 50 years of age born in GA
MARGARET 45 wife born in GA
TERRISA McCOLLUM 30, niece born in GA
ENOCH age 6, child of niece
The 1900 census of Cherokee County, GA shows
ENOCH CHAMLEE, 70, born Aug 1829
MARGARET, 69, born Dec 1830
ENOCH, nephew, age 26 born Oct 1873
How's that???

According to Verbal Chamblee Heckman, Zelpha died of "congestive chill".
I found congestive fever as Malaria. Does anyone know what a congestive
chill was? I can guess at pneumonia, but I'd love to know if anyone knows
for sure.
Zelpha R. Chamblee
born 3 Nov 1906
died 20 Aug 1908 Itawamba County MS
daughter of James Clifford Chamblee/ James Robert Chamblee/ Freeman S.

Am following up on other e-mails regarding this man, Enoch Chamlee
(often written as Chamblee, even though I do not know whether or not
there is ANOTHER Enoch who is indeed a ChamBlee) --
The "Enoch Jackson Chamlee" son of Jarrett is a descendant of the
Jarrett Chamlee who moved to Arkansas from Cherokee Co, GA, around the
early 1860's -- Jarrett who moved to Arkansas was the son of William and
Dorcas Sego Chamlee. ENOCH CHAMLEE born August 20, 1829 died February
22, 1907, was a brother of the Arkansas Jarrett and my husband's
forebearer, Tilmon Chamlee born 1809).
I show the Enoch Chamlee buried at Union Primitive Baptist Church in
North Fulton County, GA, to have married Margaret Marritt on August 14,
1851. They had a son named Enoch Chamlee born 1873 died 1956 (there
could be some discussion here. . .) --
"Congestive chills: the characteristic chills of malaria"

You are right.

This is all I have in my notes for Enoch. Evidentally I found a marriage
listed on a rootsweb page.
Cherokee County, Georgia
Posted Marriages for August 1851
http://www.rootsweb.com/~gacherok/marriage/query127.htm
Groom: CHAMBLEE, Enoch
Bride: MERITT, Margarett
Date: Aug 14, 1851
Book: B
Page: 104
Just so you all know, for CHAMLEE spellings Anne is the expert here and has
communicates with the CHAMLEE cousins. All questions on these lines are best
answered by Anne.
:)
<< I do not have Enoch Chamblee in my database. Who does he belong to? >>
A few Enochs all coming from the same line
Enoch Chamlee born 1829 has this line:
Jacob Chamlee
..William Chamlee
.....Enoch Chamlee (this Enoch also had a son named Enoch)
Enoch Jackson Chamlee born 1850 has this line:
Jacob Chamlee
..William Chamlee
....Jarrett Russell Chamlee
.....Enoch Jackson Chamlee
Hope this answers the question.
Hi
I've pulled a file in Itawamba, W. J. Webb vs. Oscar F. Chamblee et al, and
I'm transcribing it now for the web site. The only question I have, the
daughter is listed as Cerilda R. Chamblee in the suit, but I show the
daughter is Roxanna H. Chamblee. On the 1860 census there is a 1 year old
Roxanna. Does anyone know of another source for this name? I'm thinking
Cerilda R. must have been Cerilda Roxanna. There wasn't much time for
another daughter between 1860 and 1862.
Is there anyone in the line who has more information?
Thanks
Bobbe
