Hi,
Zebulon Whitley had 8 children.....Zeke, Joseph (Joe), William (Bill),
Durwood, Barbara Lou, Shirley, Rosie (maybe full name is Rosemary),
Bette....all are living. Durwood, Shirley, and Bill are all living in
California....the rest are in South Carolina.
Zeke - no kids
Joe- no kids
Bill- 3 children
Durwood - 2 children
Barbara Lou - 3? children
Shirley - 2 children
Bette - at least 1 child
Rosie - at least 1 child
I need to ask my father-in-law for any other info if you want it....just let
me know. =)
Thanks,
Sherry Chamblee
< but Durwood married Colleen Brown, not Carolyn Brown. =) >>
Perfect! I like those things corrected.
How many children did Zebulon Whitley Chamblee have? I guess I could go check
a census, this seems like an easier way to do it--ask a direct descendant!
Thanks for your help. Just one quick note, I dont know if you have this in
your records that way or if it was a misstype....but Durwood married Colleen
Brown, not Carolyn Brown. =)
Thanks, I will be working on my own site and am sooo glad you can help!
Sherry Chamblee
I am very pleased to hear about your web site project! I will certainly add a
link to your Chamblee line on my cousins page once you let me know it is
ready. You might take a look at http://members.aol.com/rockyiii/chamblee.htm
for an example of the Chamlee/Chamblee Family Network preference of you of
linking back to the main Chamblee site for the earlier generations, while
giving all of your line down from Hiram or Rayford Chamblee (since you are
double Chamblee) on your own web site.
This system works well, and I would encourage you do this because that way
when I update the early Chamblee info we do not have to worry about incorrect
information being out there on the linked Chamblee sites. Plus, it saves you
a ton of work, too.
The line is:
Richard Chamblee & Sherry Graef
Durwood Barnes Chamblee & Carolyn Brown
Zebulon Whitley Chamblee & Carolyn Harriett Barnes
Seymour Milton Chamblee & Ella Whitley
William Hiram Chamblee & Cherry Lane Frances Chamblee (cousins
married)
Hiram Chamblee & Patience Price
Jarred Chamblee & Elizabeth Carroll
Robert Chamblee & as stated on the wieb site, his wife was
PROBABLY Esther Warren, but this is not 100% for sure...so I would never put
list that as a sure thing, but put it in parenthesis in your records
Now....your husband is double Chamblee because two Chamblees married--starting
from that point:
William Hiram Chamblee & Cherrye Lane Frances Chamblee
(Cherry's line down)
Rayford Chamblee & (1) Elizabeth Wilder (2) Mary Ray
John Chamblee & (1) Olive Richardson (2) Dilly Strickland
Robert Chamblee of Wake Co NC

Hi Sherry,
My Name is Kathe Chamblee. I am also tracking my husband's family and I am new at this. The
rootsweb sent me your note to D'Ann, so she must think somehow we are connected. Maybe we
can help each other. D'Ann thinks our line goes this way.
Isaac Chamblee
Zasock Chamblee
Elisha Chamblee
George Lewis Chamblee
George Mattison Chamblee
Verdo Lester Chamblee
Horace J. Chamblee
So this our line beginning with the earliest according to D'Ann. I haven't checked this out
yet, but I will. It just takes a lot of time. I would be happy to hear from yu and any
information that you can give me, I would be grateful. Can you make any connection with our
lines and yours?
Were probably counsins. This is exciting to me because it is like tracking down old
friends. I hope to find out some of the family history on our side. I love to get the old
stories about the oldtimers. They led such a hard life.
How long have you been at this family research? Please e-mail me back. I will be waiting to
hear from you. My e-mail address is Ronnkathe(a)tdn.com.

Hi D'Ann,
Im still trying to figure out how we are all situated in all this. I know you
told me once what the line is to my husbands dad, I was wondering if you could
tell me again? We wrote it down but didnt get it into an online source fast
enough. Im trying to make our own familys genealogy page so if you have the
time any help you can provide would be appreciated. =) Thanks!
We are the William/Caroline Chamblee line....they had 8 kids, Zeke, Durwood,
Bette, Rose, Shirley, Bill, Joe and Barbara Lou.
I think Williams father was Zebulon.....they lived in SC....Waco County

Note: Below is a link announcing that the Ancestral File will go online (which
I find amazing given it's size).
The "Ancestral Files" mentioned is part of the FamilySearch program on CD at
your local Family History Center. People are encouraged to dump their data in
the Ancestral File via diskette so that others may network with them. This is
the sole purpose of Ancestral Quest, the information is not used for anything
else. When you hit "submitter" you will find out the name, address of the
person who submitted the line, and in many cases will list more than one name
and address.
Now a BIG word of caution about the Ancestral File when it does go online.
There are massive errors in there. Serious ones. The AF is only as good as
the people submitting the information. The computer is supposed to link up you
data with other people's data when it is submitted, but computer errors can
happen and do. This is not double-entry checked like the marriage records in
the IGI. Thus, if you search for your name in the AF and push "pedigree" a
whole sheet of information appears linking your line with other people who are
related.
Much caution here, as with ALL genealogy in books, the internet, or submitted
on family group sheet to you, use it ONLY as a clue to help you reprove the
line, and as a chance to find others working on your line. Nobody's work is
infallible. Genealogy is always evolving, that's why we would rather have you
leave the OLD stuff off your websites and begin on your website with your line
where we left off. We like to continually change data as we do research on the
origins and old people on the Chamblee and Chamlee lines.
I have never submitted my line to the AF for a few reasons, but you will see
some Chamblee work under my mother's name. I intend to submit this year so
perhaps some of the errors will correct themselves or that people can find us
better.
I am continually looking over the Ancestral File to see if any new
genealogists are working on your lines so I can forward their names/addresses
to the individual cousins.
There are yearly deadlines for submitting your info via diskette to Salt Lake
City for the Ancestral File program. If any of you would like to submit, and I
encourage you all to do so, I will post the instructions and deadlines here,
or the links to where you can find the information on the internet.
There are family history centers near ALL of you. They are satellines of the
Family History Library in Salt Lake. You can order films of records form Salt
Lake, xerox copies of books, order microfiche, or use the books and films is
in the FHC in you local area. Each FHC is different, some just have a small
room, others like the one here in Los Angeles, is extremely large, ours being
the second largest after Salt Lake and has a massive amount of films and books
and over 60 volunteers to help run it and more than 6,000 a month frequent
this location.
All FHC's in the world have computers with the FamilySearch program on it.
The program includes things as the Social Security Index (available from many
other internet websites), the IGI, the card catalogue to Salt Lake (which is
invaluable!!!), Ancestral File, Scottish Records, War Records, etc. etc.
With all that background, here's an announcement:

A project is underway to make genealogical data from the LDS Church available
via the World Wide Web. "The ancestral files of the LDS Church will most
likely be accessible from the site, said Craig Foster, a spokesman for the
Family History Library's Public Affairs Projects." The project is
confirmed to be underway, but no completion date has been announced.
