While I am on FTDNA (Family Tree DNA) it is for the BATES Families and not the CHAMBERS
family which I am also connected several times, mostly in Southern US. (NC/SC to
California)
It has been my experience throughout that if you find a match in the lower tests (12-37)
that then does not show up in the higher tests (67-111) then that connection would be long
before there were records of the non royal persons (before 1400) and therefore probably
unlocatable other than hearsay.
i.e. I began my tests in 2003 with the 25 test and at the time there were over four pages
of results for the 12 test and about half those disappeared for the 25 marker. Since then
I have upgraded my markers to 37 (2006) then 67 (2011) such that there are now only two
matches with one of them being within the family database and the other so far out (7
markers) that it has been determined that the match would probably be in that gray area
between 1000 and 1500. The major problem with these results is that the higher marker
testees drop drastically from the lower (12/25) tests and somewhat skews the results.
However, according to the BATES DNA Coordinator, and the DNA database, there are
sufficient numbers in the well researched lines (there are presently known to be three in
England but Scotland/Ireland/France/Spain and Nordic lands are only presently suspect)
with one of them practically unresearched with the other two extremely researched.
for background: my connections are located primarily in York County, South Carolina
(probably originated in Central North Carolina) with known migrations to Spalding County,
Georgia (it was part of Fayette County in 1824-7), Pike County, Alabama and Sabine County,
Texas and surrounding counties. It is suspected that the Texas area may connect back to
North Carolina therefore connecting with the SC/Ga locations.

Family Tree DNA automatically matches you to others. I had several matches, but I
don't recall John Jackson Chambers (b 1781 PA) being one.
As for the results, they confirmed the line's origination in Scotland. I believe all
the Family Tree DNA results are available to the public.
As for matches for your line, the best (at least easiest) way is to submit a test. Seems
like Family Tree DNA was running a special, perhaps to Christmas or the end of the year??
