Just wondering what county Chambersburg, pa is located?
Reason for asking is that I have an unknown CHAMBERS; born abt 1710 Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania, USA with a son Willliam CHAMBERS born 1733 unknown and died 17 mar 1820 York
County, South Carolina, USA, Vicinity Ogden Station [no longer exists] which is about 3
miles north of the Chester County, SC line on hwy 324 where it crosses the railroad
tracks.
William has a son [ he has two] named David born abt 1750 Lancaster County, Pennsylvania,
USA; dies 4 jan 1808 York County, South Carolina, USA [said to be a judge in the SC
circuit court for the area]; who married Martha WHARRY born abt 1755 Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania, USA; died abt 1838 Fayette County, Georgia, USA [she accompanied her son
Robert CHAMBERS] when me moved with one of John BATES jr's wagon trains to a location
on the east side of the Flint River. David and Martha had eight children (5M3F), Robert
was their forth child.
Robert CHAMBERS; born abt 1782 Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA; died after 1838
unknown (believed to be somewhere in Georgia); married Laodicea BATES "Dicey"
abt 1816 York County, South Carolina, USA. Besides his mother and wife, Robert's
niece (he was awarded guardianship when her parents died together) Agnes Hope MEEK (d/o
Andrew MEEK and Elizabeth D. CHAMBERS-a younger sister) is the only one we know of at
present and the 1830 census seems to confirm this.
There is information on the internet that Robert CHAMBERS married a Jane GRIGGS 6 feb 1808
Hancock County, Georgia, USA but I have no confirmation from York County, SC of this
marriage and if it is ever confirmed, I suspect that Jane probably died in childbirth
within a year of the marriage with the child not surviving as well. The online
information indicates a Female child born of the marriage but from what I can find, there
is no indication of her in Spalding/Fayette County, Georgia, USA area though one
individual considers the 1830 census female 15-20 years old to be this female. However,
there are Orphans court papers and Probate court papers from York County that state she
was in Georgia in 1826 and am quite sure that 1830 census shows her instead of the
indicated daughter.
Agnes Hope MEEK "Nancy"; born 1812 York County,South Carolina, USA; died abt
1851 Spalding County, Georgia, USA (the county had only just been form not long before she
died); married William Thomas BATES Sr; b: 1813 York County, South Carolina, USA; died
1912 Spalding County, Georgia, USA.
Is any of this familiar for your CHAMBERS family?

May anyone give me assistance?
Has there been any Y-DNA testing of the Chambers of the early Chambersburg, PA, area
done?
That would be Benjamin Chambers and Randal Chambers.
I don't seem to see any results of these two families posted at the Chambers Y-DNA
Project website.
Thanks,
