The Chambers from Crillaun DNA test results are in. Of 37 markers there are only two
one-step mutations. The Crimlin Chambers and Crillaun Chambers have a common ancestor.
This ancestor is closer in time to the ancestor we share with the Newport Chambers.
Recent information hints that my ancestral family farm was not in Crimlin (Crumlin) but
Commauns, an adjacent townland. Mayo library also found a Chambers paying rent in Crimlin
to Lord Lucan up to 1872. The Chambers were not there during Griffith's Valuation. the
farm was lost during the Famine. I expect that this was my gr-gr-grandfather, William, who
moved there. He passed away about 1870. His daughter married a Gillan who probably took
over the rent at that time.
