With all of the current activity on the Chambers list, I thought I'd post
my question one more time.
I'm looking for what appears to be a Josephine Chambers?? who was on the 1870
Jackson Co AL census. She was living in the home of a David Wenrick (later
identified as Windrix) and his wife, Manerva. I believe this Manerva to be
Manerva/Minerva Wilson, born ca 1847 GA. Also in this home is her father,
William Wilson born ca 1802 in SC. The mystery is the identity of Josephine
Chambers(the census record is so poorly copied that this spelling is in
question) who is also living in this home. She is shown as 10 yrs old, born in
AL. Can anyone tell me who she is?
I am trying to find out if there is any connection between this Josephine and
the Wenrick/Windrix surname or the Wilson surname. If the transcription of her
surname is incorrect, then it might possibly be read as Chandler, but Chambers
seems to be the better choice.
Since my Wilsons came from somewhere in SC before migrating to Walker/Chattooga
Co GA and before moving to AL, I'm wondering if perhaps this Josephine might
belong to one of the Chambers families living in GA? If so, does anyone know of
a connection between the Chambers and Wilsons? I don't know where in SC my
Wilsons lived before coming to GA but maybe there were Chambers somewhere in SC
in the early 1800's?
Probably a shot in the dark, I know, but I had to ask.
