Hi Roger,
I was following a chambers thread from Marjorie Stansel and found you... I think that she
and I might link up....and your posting was interesting... I didn't know a lot of
that... I have recently found some cousins down my chambers line, but am still trying to
find info on the start of my line...
Do you have anything on a supposed son of James Chambers
here is all my info:
Calvin J. Chambers, b. 1804 NC
married Susan Story in Lumpkin County GA
May 23, 1843
I have him on the 1840 lumpkin,
bought land in 1841 from Wm Casan,
1850 lumpkin,
1860 Polk, Tn,
then I believe he dies
sometime before the 1870 census as Susan is living
in with youngest son Roswell in Murray Ga for 1870.
My family obscure notes state that both father and son fought in the war for the North and
that the father died...
can't prove it yet...
have no idea where they are buried...
They had 4 sons
James J., Harrison,John Chappel, Roswell(sp)
I have them all on the census; 3 of the bros
married into the Shields family...
They stay in Ga. from 1870 on...
My line John C. married Elizabeth or Malissia... Deal/harden/gilmer lines...
(which I am still trying to figure out)
he dies before 1900 census and she is back
in Polk tn listed as widowed...
I can go further down, but not further back....
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
Shari
