Hi again,
I was going thru some of my older notes last night, & came across DAVID
CHAMBERS. He had been a name that just didn't fit in right away. So,
putting two & 2 together, this is what came of him;
David Chambers, Jan.17, 1789, NC - Apr.20, 1838, Cole Co., MO
m. Rebecca McKinney, Oct.15, 1793 - May 23, 1848, Cole Co., MO
both are buried on the Farm of Elias Chambers, near Elston, Cole Co., MO.
Their children are;
Martha Chambers, m. Martin Lane, Oct.26, 1848
Mary Chambers, m. William E. Moad, Mar.2, 1848
Nancy Chambers, m. Jonathan Wells, Dec.20, 1838
James Chambers, b.1815, TN, m. Mary Wells, b.1819, KY, Nov.22, 1838
Elizabeth Chambers, b.1817, TN, m. Ezekiel Chambers, b. 1816, TN, Apr.12,
1835
Elias Chambers, Feb.24, 1826 - Sept.10, 1905, m. Susan C. Conley, Mar.01,
1848
Elias & Susan (also listed as Cowley) are both buried at Elston Cemetery,
Cole Co., MO
All the children's marriages took place in Cole Co., MO, with the exception
of Mary Chambers, & William E. Moad.
This information was taken from Cemeteries in Cole County, MO, as
Recorded in the 1930's, part IV. These were cemetery records, & some
probate records.
Marriage dates were taken from Marriage Records of Cole Co., MO, 1821 -
1900, Compiled from Original Certificates & Licenses, as well as the probate
records ( #109A-3 & 110A-3) of David & Rebecca Chambers.
Elizabeth Chambers married Ezekiel Chambers, thought to be cousins.
Ezekiel Chambers is a son of William C. Chambers, Sr. b. about 1787 NC -
Apr.24, 1864, Cole Co., MO, m. Elizabeth Metcalf.
The following comes from Texas Co., MO. Heritage, Vol.1, pub. by Texas
Co., MO. Genealogical & Historical Society, 1989, Library of Congress #
89-50845.
One Line of the Chambers Family in Texas Co., Part One;
(submitted by Edgar McKinney)
"Three Chambers men and their families - David, William, and Joshua -
settled in present day Cole / Moniteau Counties, MO., between 1816 - 1822.
William apparently arrived in MO either in 1831 or 1832. They were all born
between 1789 and 1793, but we are not certain of their exact relationship.
They may have been brothers, but no proof exists of that. There is a
distinct possibility that David and Joshua were sons of one James Chambers,
who remained in Campbell Co., TN, and that William was the son of a William,
who also remain there. There is enough family usage of the same names to
insure a close relationship between the three, however. Descendants of
David and William had settled in Texas Co., MO, prior to the Civil War,
mostly in the present day Yukon, Raymondville, Tyrone, and Big Creek
communities."
Can anyone place David Chambers?? I / We are still trying to tie
William C. Chambers, Sr. into the Chambers Clan from Campbell Co., TN., &
back into NC.
Happy Hunting!!
