Hi,
I have been scanning tonight and found a bit more about the Chambers/McDaris
connections. You never know, it might help someone who has a brick wall. The McDaris are
hard to come by because they really aren't McDaris at all. It is another one of those
surnames that is spelled every which-a-way because it is hard to spell it. It took me a
long time to find my grandmother's line because I had always heard it Mack-Derris
sounding but that wasn't the way to spell it. It is actually a Portugese surname and
the original guy was in Jamestown. Along the way, it got spelled Medearis/Medaris/Madaris
and the southern ones spelled it McDaris because that is how our grandmother along the way
pronounced it. Anyway. Here is the Chambers information:
GENERATION ONE
James Chambers married a woman named Abigail.
GENERATION TWO
John Chambers, born 12-18-1758 and died 1820 from Buncombe, North Carolina. He married a
woman named Jane Clemmons. They had 3 known children: William M., John and Silitha
GENERATION THREE
William was born 4-18-1791 in Buncombe and died in 1877. His wife was Mary McMurtrey.
Their children:
Mary Polly was born 1021-1815. She married Robert McDaris
Lorena was born in 1817 and married a Ramsay
WIlliam K. was born 1826
John G. was born 1827 and was married to Catherine
Minerva was born 1830
Joseph B. was born 1832 and married Lou Brigman
James was born 1833 Susannah was born 1834 Riley P. was born 1836
GENERATION FOUR
Robert Henry McDaris and his wife Mary Polly Chambers had these children"
Jane Mary Rebecca Susan James W. William Joseph and Robert H.
Hope someone is shouting for joy. Tomorrow I will read through the emails. Thank you
guys so much for reading my email and answering.
Love to you all,
Polly

Subject: [CHAMBERS] a Chambers puzzle of mine
yHi You Guys,
For nearly a decade, I have been trying to unravel my Chambers puzzle.
So, last night I sat down with my books and copied down my lines and the
Chambers connectors. I am hoping that one of you might know how to help me
out. My lines are in caps along with the connecting Chambers names:
THE MADARIS/MEDARIS/MCDARIS family.
GENERATION ONE
RICE MEDARIS married RACHEL MCPHEETERS. They were married June 1775.
GENERATION TWO
WILLIAM H. married SUSANNAH NICHOLSON
brother James A. married Patricia Buckner and they lived in Union County,
Georgia in an area called Young Cane/Blairsville.
GENERATION THREE
JAMES HIRAM married ELIZABETH BOONE
child of James A. was Robert H. who married MARY POLLY CHAMBERS
GENERATION FOUR
VIRGINIA married JAMES MURPHY (this was a surname that was originally
Morphew)
child of James A. was William B. born 1856 who married CORDELIA CHAMBERS
THE BOONE FAMILY
GENERATION ONE
ISRAEL BOONE married unknown. He was the elder brother of the pioneer
Daniel.
GENERATION TWO
JESSE BOONE married MCMAHON
GENERATION THREE
ISRAEL BOONE married ELIZABETH MOORE
GENERATION FOUR
ELIZABETH (BETSY) married JAMES HIRAM MEDARIS in McMinn, Tennessee
GENERATION FIVE
VIRGINIA married JAMES MURPHY. She was born in 1855.
THE MOORE FAMILY
GENERATION ONE
JESSE MOORE married ALLEY JOHNSON
GENERATION TWO
DANIEL MOORE married RACHEL STONE
RACHEL MOORE married CHAMBERS, either Elisha or Elijah
REBECCA MOORE married CHAMBERS either Elisha or Elijah
GENERATION THREE
ELIZABETH MOORE married JAMES HIRAM MEDARIS
MY CHAMBERS LINE
GENERATION ONE
JACOB Married NANCY A. They lived in Cherokee and Lumpkin, Georgia
GENERATION TWO
JACOB JR. married ELIZABETH STACY. They lived in Wright County, Missouri
GENERATION THREE
ANDREW JACKSON CHAMBERS married MARY ELLEN BAKER in north Arkansas but
they raised their children around St. Louis.
GENERATION FOUR
MERICA CHAMBERS married JOHN MURPHY. She was born in 1900.
These families lived in Burke, North Carolina.... Daisy/McMinn and
Bradley Tennessee... Chickamauga/Union/Lumpkin/Cherokee Georgia... Monroe,
Indiana and Kentucky.
I don't have my Morphew line established yet until we get my brother's
DNA results back but it also has Boone and Chambers connections in it.
A Chambers researcher in Wright County says that we descend from Elijah
Chambers. Also, one other bit, in 1840 there were 3 Chambers in Pulaski
County, Missouri which became a part of Wright County... I believe them to
be brothers: John, James and Jacob. I believe that Jacob travelled between
Georgia and Missouri and that John and his wife were killed in a tornado
in Wright County and that their children: George, Elizabeth, William
Singleton Chambers and another Jacob were orphanned into different homes
there. One other daughter of John's was unaccounted for.
Any help out there for me?
Thanks,
Polly
Oops. In Wright County, there was another Andrew Jackson Chambers born
the same time as mine. He married Nancy Byrd Simmons.
