Would the author of this message please contact me. I have a William
Chambers in Fred. Co. Va and do not know his parentage. He died c. 1781. A
Benj.Chambers bought several pieces of property in the same area.

Thanks Cynthia for your note. It's always good to make contact with
another cousin. :-) Your James Chambers was a Revolutionary War Veteran and
the son of Benjamin Chambers. Benjamin was the founder of Chambersburg, PA
and one of the four brothers that are the basis for the book. Your family
line continues in Chambers Heroes to Mary Scott and her marriage to John
Calais. It hasn't been a firm rule, but I have typically stopped at "2
generations from the last Chambers." From their interactions with George
Washington to their connections to the settlement of Cincinnati and points
beyond, James Chambers' line is a fascinating one. There's even a tie to a
governor and U S Supreme Court Justice. Next to my own line (I descend from
the 3rd brother Joseph), it was a pretty exciting line to research. Are you
aware of other military veterans in your direct line?
