Hi,
I don't remember if I ever put in my Chambers line or not, so here goes:
My Chambers line begins with a mystery as to how come 4 young folks are living in Missouri
with 4 disconnected families. From the 1850 census for Wright County, Missouri, they are
listed as being from Tennessee, unknown county:
living in the home of the LUNSFORD family:
GEORGE W. CHAMBERS age 21 who eventually married Zelphus Lunsford. He was killed in the
Civil War... or at least died of wounds later. He and Zelphus had 3 children. I
haven't located any of his descendants.
Living in the home of JULIUS HUFF,
WILLIAM SINGLETON CHAMBERS age 18. William grew up to marry MRS. DECINIA HART WEAVER with
whom he had about 3 children. He also died during the Civil War or at least of wounds
incurred there.
my line: JACOB B. CHAMBERS, age 13/14 living in the home of WILLIAM KITCHEN BENTON. Jacob
married twice. First he married Amanda White but it isn't believed that he fathered
children with her. Next, he married Elizabeth Stacey, the niece of Mr. Benton's 3rd
wife. With Elizabeth, he had ANDREW JACKSON CHAMBERS who was born 1871-4 est. Andrew was
raised in Newton County, Arkansas by his maternal grandmother, Catherine Kelly Stacey. It
is unknown what became of Jacob and Elizabeth. However, Amanda reported later that Jacob
was killed during the Civil War.
ELIZABETH CHAMBERS, age 13/14 was living in the WILLIAM FRANKLIN home. It is unknown what
became of Elizabeth but there was a missing file over in Wright County where she sued Mr.
Franklin.
I have been trying to trace these folks for many years and have never found anything that
would offer a clue to their family line. So far, it seems that they had no family
relationship to any of the families they were living with nor is it known how they
happened to have come from Tennessee into Missouri.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Polly
