Mr. Joseph Wolfe died at his home in Rawles Township, Nov 19th, 1894 after
a long and tedious illness. He was born in Cooper county Missouri, Aug
30th, 1828, and was married Aug 31st, 1852. He moved to Mills county the
same year of his marriage and settled on the farm in Rawles township where
he has lived for forty-two years and where he has just died. He was
converted in Cooper county, Missouri, in 1844 and united with the Baptist
church, in which organization he remained faithful until his removal to
Mills county, when finding no church of his own denomination convenient he
joined the Methodist church and was an active member therein, holding
several prominent offices and doing much good in a religious way. He had a
strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and often spoke to his friends and
neighbors about his being ready to go. He remained conscious until the last
and made all arrangements for his funeral services himself which took place
at the Waubousie church Wednesday, November 21st. Rev. Jas Hubbard
officiated and preached a feeling sermon from the text Ephesians 4: 14 15,
the subject being the family on earth and the family above and the church
above. A large congregation was present to pay their last respects to their
old time neighbor and friend.
