Message Board Post:
Anne Chambers of Woodville, Ohio, wife of the late Judge John Chambers, died December 11,
2009 at home surrounded by family.
She was born Anne Louise Blausey in Woodville, OH on July 8, 1926 to Walter
"Pat" Blausey and Frances (Thorworth) Blausey. Anne was the second of four
children including her sister Jean and brothers Jack and Bill. She graduated from Solomon
Lutheran grade school and Woodville High School, then attended Bowling Green State
University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, and
was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. Following graduation, Anne taught bookkeeping
and typing at Woodville High School.
In 1948, she and John Chambers of Genoa, OH were married, and the couple lived in Ada, OH
while John completed his law degree. Anne took a job as Executive Secretary at North Star
Woolen Mills in Lima, OH, where she later became Director of Personnel, kept the
company's books, and managed the payroll. After completion of John's law degree,
the couple moved back to Woodville. In 1950 both Anne and John contracted and recovered
from polio, after which Anne was active in the March of Dimes and the Sister Kenny
Foundation.
In addition to being an accomplished pianist and amateur composer (including the perennial
family favorite, "Jellyballs and Doughnuts", which unfortunately never charted
above #106), Anne was a very busy homemaker and beloved mother of four. In later years,
she mastered carving of intricate wood figurines, a number of which were sold to area
shops and individuals, and became an avid collector and trader of antique and modern
dolls.
Her four children and eight grandchildren survive her: John Chambers of Woodville; Peggy
(Joseph) Wilhems of Woodville and her children Annie, Mary, April, Branden, and Madelyn;
Sally Chambers of Woodville and her son Rob (Audrey); and Scott (Brenda) Chambers of
Perrysburg, OH and his sons Ryan and Sean. Also surviving her are her brothers, Jack
(Harriet) Blausey of Sylvania, OH and Bill (Marian) Blausey of Woodville.
Anne was known for her positive outlook and sense of humor, which she passed on to her
family. In lieu of flowers and charitable donations, the family says, "Send us money.
Cash is OK, but gold coins and bullion are preferred." Anne also loved animals, and
donations in her memory to the Sandusky County Humane Society, 2520 Port Clinton Road,
Fremont, OH 43420 would be welcome.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 19, 2009 from 2-6 p.m. at the
Marsh Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St. Woodville, OH where a brief Time of Remembrance will
be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be private in Clay Twp. Cemetery.
