G.W. Chambers
ANDERSON, Feb. 11 - George Washington Chambers, 82, long time resident of
Starr, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday after several years of declining health and
a serious illness of two weeks.
He was born in Georgia, the sone of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Chambers.
Mr. Chambers was a member of the Baptist church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Fannie E. Whitlock Chambers; 7 sons, James,
Caroll and Wade Chambers, all of Anderson, Rayford, Ernest, Jack and Thomas,
all of Starr: 3 daughters, Mrs. Frances Branyon of Anderson, Mrs. Mildred
Davis of Starr and Mrs. Catherine Whitaker of Liberty: 2 brothers, Lee
Chambers of Athens, Ga. and Henry Chambers of Anderson; 2 sisters, Mrs. Annie
Williams of Lowndesville and Mrs. Minnie Brown of Atlanta, Ga. 32
grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be by the Rev. Ralph Pitts. Burial will be in the
church cemetary.
Pallbearers will be Dewey Shore, Lewis Smith, John Rhett Mouchet, Goodman
Bare, Ed Shaw and Willis McGee. Honorary escort will be members of the Men�s
Bible Class of the Starr Baptist Church.
After 10 a.m. Wednesday the body will be a the home in Starr.
McDougald Funeral Home is in charge.
Thomas and George were brothers. They were also my gf' Noah C.'s brothers
