Subject: Chambers Family Search
I got your email address from the Web. You have apparently done some
work on the Chambers family, who lived in Kentucky at some point. I have an interest in
this family as well, and I am wondering if you have any details that I can add to my
collection.
Specifically, I am trying to find information on a woman named Endmial
or,
more likely Endemile (I like this spelling because I can pronounce it:
"end-EMILY"). She may not have liked her name either because she used a
nickname, "Kit." Possibly her name was spelled the less conventional way
because of her parents' spelling skills.
Ms. Chambers was born in Hardin County, Kentucky, which I see from my
State Farm map, is near Fort Knox, in the northern part of the state.
THe
probable date was ca. 1830. I found a reference to Ms. Chambers in some
Mormon records (on CD) at a local temple, but all they offered was her
general birthplace and rough date. I couldn't find information on any of
her family.
She moved to Indiana at some point and married Henry Keith. Mrs. Keith
was
my great-great grandmother.
I know of her from Civil War letters that have been passed down to me,
and
which I have been transcribing. When I retire I hope to privately print
them, along with background information on the family and the battles
which are described in some of the letters.
If you have anything on Kit Chambers Keith, or her family (who wrote the
letters to her), I would enjoy hearing about it.
Sincerely,
