Let's summarize the facts here. Allen Thomas Chambers' father was a navy sailor.
He would have spent a great deal of time on navy ships. Very common for a father to be out
to sea when a child was born. You can see on the birth certificate that the mother signed
it, not the father. She spelled one letter wrong. OK, very common mistake. She lists the
father as a sailor, born abt 1915 in Texas, named Allen Lester Chambers. There are no
other people from Texas born around 1915 with such a name. When I first saw the name Allen
Lister Chambers I also thought it was wrong and put it in the tree as Lester. Turns out it
really was Lister. In genealogy there is a such thing as preponderance of evidence, and I
would say this exists here. All of the facts that we know for sure point to him. This
would not be the first time that someone's marriage did not work out, he moves
somewhere else, and starts a new family. It is fine if people do not want to accept his
other children, but the fac!
ts remain.
