I really need some help here. I have been able to find this much so far on my Great
Grandmother. I know she was Native American. But I always assumed Cherokee. I've
been reading all the messages on other Chambers with Native American blood (note: NAs
don't like to be called Indians.) But I would love to find out who my Great
Grandmothers parents were. I have searched exhaustively and nothing. I have been told
that her name, was Native American by Native American who were proficient in the language.
It means when said Cherokee. I have a feeling that the census takers, didn't know
how to spell it so they did it phonetically. I have listed below the census where she was
at. Thanks for any help.
1900 Census-Down at the bottom of the sheet where you can barely see them is Andrew and
Canzabie Ratliff.--It states that her parents were born in VA too. Richard Ratliff and
Lizzie (Elisabeth) are at the top of the

Personal note-my grandmother who was Canzady (Kansadie) was full blooded Cherokee.
