Last weekend I had problems connecting to the UM server from home and was
told by our ITD that a worm had shut down servers all over the world.
Apparently MichNet, which provides service to the University, shut down all
of it's servers across the State of Michigan as a security measure. Other
groups I belong to have had similar problems. I was told (if I remember
correctly - I'm not a "techie") that the worm effected security patches.
Does this sound right? Deborah

Subject: Responses to list,
Hi Ron,
Just want to interject a secondary reason as to why some members may not be
seeing responses.
You're likely 100 percent correct that most are not subscribers.
However, I am technical advisor to a private group of nearly a hundred
researchers. We have many members who have not received any mail from the
group archive since June 29, individual or digest.
These members are all on AOL. This server has had massive problems
delivering mail lately. There are many reasons for this glitch, and they
are working to straighten it out. This may not apply here, but felt I
should mention it.
Regards, Doyle Chambers

Hi:
I couldn't figure out why so many said they weren't seeing responses.
I now know why. The vast majority of those posting on the list are not
subscribed to the list.
Other than sending individual emails to each one that they should subscribe
I really don't see an answer to this dilemma.
If you don't subscribe you don't see the responses.
