Do you happen to known anything about a Moses or Solomon Chambers in W. pa. In the
1750's? I have never been able to locate their parents, my brick wall I guess!
Thank you,

It amazes me how active the Chambers list is. I'm on a lot of
list...I think.....but nary a word except for the Library of Virginia.
Even the Smith list is silent.
So, I have concluded the Chambers bunch is a very intellectual group
of people....curious about what has gone before.
Along that line, I have a John Chambers who lived “within four miles
West of Winchester, (VA) on what is locally known as Chambers
Mountain, so called as being a section of mountain land granted to
John Chambers by the Governor and Council. [Source: Shenandoah Valley
Pioneers and Their Descendants by T. K. Cartmell (Published in 1909)]
Frederick County Will Book I lists the following Chambers:
McPherson, Robert, Estate administered by Joel Chambers 13 Feb 1749
pg. 75 Mary Chambers, executor of Edmund Chambers, dec’d 3 Jun 1746
Witness Thomas Swearengen & John Smith
pg 77 Mary Chambers, Administrator, 5 Aug 1746 Inventory of Edmund Chambers
Richard Morgan, Van Swearengen, William Chapline
pg 180 John Chambers, John Frost Adm. of will, 8 Jun 1748
Witnesses: Richard Morgan, Robert Worthington.
Arthur Barrett married a Lydia Chambers 13 Jun 1705 at Concord Monthly
Meeting in PA and migrated to Fred. Co, VA. She was the daughter of
John Chambers.
Alexander Ross had married Katherine Chambers of Chichester in 1706
and they were in Orange County (now Frederick Co.) by 1734.
The 1682 Lands Granted by Penn to Purchasers of Eng. Ire. Scot, etc.
in Reference: PA Archive, 1682, 1:1:40-46…page 30 lists both a
Benjamin and a John Chambers. [A Benjamin Chambers is listed by the
Welcome Society as an arrival on the ship Welcome.]
William Chambers was in Frederick Co, VA (Winchester) by 1735 and
received a land grant at the same site as the property of John
Chambers. Wish I could prove Wm. was John's son but could have been
brother, nephew, etc.
Benjamin Chambers is buying land in Frederick Co, VA in the 1760s.
These are just a few tidbits of what I know about the Chambers in
this area of Virginia. If any of this fits into your lines, I hope
you will get back to me.
