Randy,
All those lines of mine travelled together. I think some of the Chambers
researchers have been so excitec about putting lines together that they
have
confused them and gotten some of us kicked out of the family.
I have Chambers in my Morphew and Medaris lines and have known forever
that they were all kinfolks. I just haven't been able to connect them up.
My Andrew was raised by his maternal grandmother and I suspect it is
because his mother died and his father remarried.
Boone County, Arkansas is on a straight stretch between Branson, MO and
Harrison, AR. It is beautiful mountain country and there is even an
Arkansas
Grand Canyon that someday you might want to see. There is no other like
it.
There are crystal caverns, too. It is a very nice place to drive around.
We go through there on vacation to see my folks and Dale's. I make him
stop
so I can buy gifts that elderly women make that you also can't get
anything
like... dolls that reverse to be grandma, Riding Hood and the wolf,
quilts, jelly, apple dolls... I love it.
This is my line:
census for 1840... Wright/Pulaski County MO
James Chambers listing 2 daughters and 3 sons.
John Chambers
Jacob Chambers all heads of house with something interesting going to
happen
1850
Lumpkin/Cherokee County GA
Jacob Chambers from TN
Nancy unknown wife from Indiana
Jacob JR. a baby.
Later children: WIlliam two other girls whose names are not in front of
me
1850 Wright County MO
orphan children: Elizabeth Chambers living in the Franklin house and
later
sued Mr. Franklin. Jacob Chambers who died in the Civil War, possibly in
the battle at Wright County. He married a woman but never had children.
William married a Delcina Hart Weaver woman and had children but he also
died
in the CW. And then the last son George died in the CW. he married a
Lunsford and had children by her.
1860 Wright County
Jacob Chambers Jr. is married to Elizabeth Stacy and they are living with
her aunt and husband... the Young family.
My Andrew was born 1871/3 and he was living in Newton County AR (right
next to Boone County) with his maternal grandmother Catherine Kelly
Stacy.
Andrew married Mary Ellen Baker, daughter of William Clare Baker and
Susan A.
Waggner Baker Holland. They had 4 daughters... raising them in Missouri
and
Arkansas.
I found Andrew living next door to a Bennett Chambers... which my Jacob
was Jacob Bennett Chambers, in Pope County, Arkansas on a couple of
census
records.
My grandmother is buried in Pope County in the Chambers family plot whose
elder seems to be William Chambers. I believe he is her uncle. My cousin,
before she died, told me they were all relatives but she was not in good
shape to question her.
However, my grandmother married John Morphew/Murphy who was almost blind.
I don't know how he went to find a wife unless she was someone already
known to him. His mother was Virgina Medaris/McDaris Murphy. I think my
grandparents were cousins.
In that family, Elisha and Elijah Chambers out of Burke County married
aunts of Virginia who were both McDaris/Medaris. They all went to church
at
Three Forks in Burke County.
Some say it is a coincidence but I don't think so. I think Andrew
Chambers
is the father of James, John and Jacob out of GA and that Andrew is the
son of either Elisha or Elijah. I could bet money on it and come out a
winner. The other Chambers family in Wright County has a story in the
heritage
book that says they come out of Elijah or Elisha one and that one also
has
the other Andrew Jackson Chambers who married Carolina Byrd. He was a
Baptist
minister and they had about a dozen children. I can't follow that line
but
they connect somehow. They just aren't through James, John or Jacob.
Anyway. I am glad to revive this research.
Thanks,
Polly

Hi Polly,
Thank you for the info. According to the Burke County public records
and land grants, there was a Elisha Chambers who was awarded a land
grand in what was then Burke Co., later became McDowell Co. and then
Haywood County. He had two sons that also were awarded land grants in
Burke County but I don't have the info in front of me. I think one was
John and the other James but please don't hold me to that. I'll have
to look up the info to make sure. In fact I'm not sure if the name was
Elisha or Elijah but it was one or the other. I have heard reference
to Boone County many tims as a destination for some of my family but
didn't have any idea where it came from and where it was located.
I'm not familiar with any of the secondary families you mentioned.
Regards,
Randy

Hi,
My Chambers cousins tell me that the only thing they knew was that
their grands sure made a lot of trips back to Georgia to see family
but they didn't know who they were... the cousins didn't know who the
Georgia folks were. Mine were in Cherokee/Lumpkin GA in the early
1800's. I found them first in 1840. They were back and forth to Wright
County, MO intermingling with my Morphew/McDaris/Medaris people and
connect to the Daniel Boone line. I primarily have Jacob, John and
James as the elders of the group. My line comes through Jacob to his
son Jacob and then to my own Andrew Jackson Chambers who was born in
1871. There were two of Andrew Jackson Chambers born in 1871 Wright
County. Hmm. Census records say the line comes from TN and I suspect
Burke Co NCar and Indiana play into it as well. My line also went to
north Arkansas to Pope and the Boone County area.
I am interested in a more elder Andrew Chamers intertwined with Elisha
and Elijah Chambers.
Thanks for your help and interest,
Polly

Hi,
Do you have any relatives of Andrew jackson Chambers, bSC 1793. I've
been able to connect with the Chambers of Cades Cove, TN and believe my
gggf(bSC 1814) {James A.} lived in White/Habersham Georgia. I have a
Moses Chambers bSC abt 1798 that lived in Polk Co, Tn for some time
(worked in a mine) before moving back into Georgia prior to 1840. I
also believe that other Chambers living in Monroe County Tennessee were
related. There is good evidence that the Chambers of Habersham/White
County Georgia visited these Chambers frequently. A Louise Chambers
(gd of James Chambers) was born in Iva, SC in 1925 while her family
visited and helped Thomas Chambers (son of James C. Chambers) on his
farm. There is in my possession a letter written by James A Chambers
(Hab/White) to a Chambers living in Cherokee Co. (maybe NC, Georgia or
Alabama- just not sure).
According to Thomas Chambers' gs, we also had kin living in Pickens
Co., SC and Burke Co, NC. According to thomas' gs, chambers from
Northern Ga, Upstate SC, and Burke Co. NC along with other family
migrated into Tn and Boonesville, KY. There was a town named Chambers
in Burke Co. at one time but it's now just a community with no Chambers
in the area. (While I can't make a connection, some of the chambers
living in Burke Co. in the early 1800's came from Rowan County, NC
Would appreciate any information that would connect these families.
Randy
