Searching under family trees in Ancestry, I find Aaron Chambers, born 1781, married to
Lois Porter (daugher of Joseph Porter and Sarah Jane Reynolds Porter. As you stated, they
married in 1818. The other Aaron Chambers married Mary (Polly) Mcdowell in 1822. If this
second Aaron is the son of Aaron Chambers who married Lois Porter, then Lois could not be
his mother (as you said stepmother).
In Family Tree Maker, I find Aaron Chambers, born 1770, died 1827, married to Mary
"Polly" Chambers, born 1797, died 1828.
Also, in Family Tree Maker, I find Edmund Chambers, born 1739, who had a son named Edmund.
These Chambers hail from the Alexander, then Reynolds "Runnels" Chambers and
much of this family settled in North Carolina, then moved westward into Indiana. If I
locate any more information, I will let you know. Patty Smith

Subject: [CHAMBERS] Chambers/NC
I am looking for the parents of the Aaron Chambers who married Lois
Porter in Wilkes co. NC in 1818. Lois Porter was then widowed, I believe
before the 1820 census, when it appears that her stepson Aaron Chambers
is listed with her in the census there, with her denoted as a female age
26-45. She was probably at the upper limit or just above that of that age
group, probably being born about 1770.
At least I believe that the Aaron Chambers who married Lois Porter in
1818, was the father of the Aaron Chambers who was married in Wilkes
county to Mary Dowell in 1822.
There are a couple of possiblilities. One is that the Aaron Chambers that
married Lois Porter was the Aaron Chambers with family in the 1810 census
of Charles, Jefferson co, VA. Another possibility is that he was the son
of Edmund Chambers and Patiana Spencer. I say this because that is the
only Chambers family in NC that I have seen used the Edmund name. The
Aaron Chambers who married Mary Dowell named a son Edmund Chambers.
