Mrs. Richard W. Fitzwilliams
Friends of Mrs. Ellen Fitzwilliams, wife of Richard W. Fitzwilliams, North Franklin
Township, just south of town, were shocked to hear Thursday morning that she had died at
her home Wednesday evening. The cause of her death was a complication of diseases.
Saturday, February 8, Mrs. Fitzwilliams was on the streets of Washington. The following
week she was taken sick, but not seriously. On Tuesday of this week she appeared to be
better. Wednesday evening she grew worse, and Mr. Fitzwilliams came to town for the
family physician, Dr. Joseph H. Little, and when the two gentlmen reached Mrs.
Fitzwilliams' bedside at about 10 o'clock they found her dead. The deceased was a
most estimable lady with hosts of friends. For many years she had been a member of the
First Presbyterian church of this place. She was aged 49 years, and was a daughter of
Judge J. C. Chambers, Amwell township. The family connection is a large one. Mrs.
Fitzwilliams left no children.
