As a new subscriber I don't know if this is a common problem with the
Chambers name or not. Family records differ on if the name is Chambers or
Shambaughs. This is the information I have. Does it ring any bells with
anyone out there?
ELIAS GILBERT, (Father of Frances Orilda Mobley). Elias was born Oct. 15
1827, Licking County, Ohio, Jersey Twp. Died Oct. 30, 1906, Madison

Chambers or Shambaughs, born Feb. 20, 1833, Maryland and died Dec. 27,

Parents of Elias Gilbert were Hiram Gilbert, born Licking Co. Ohio and
Sarah Smith, born New York. Parents of Mary Catherine Chambers were James
and Sarah Chambers. Their children we have listed besides Mary Catherine
Gilbert are William, Elija, Martha and George. In 1840 this family was
living in Licking County, Ohio, Albans Twp., in 1850 they were living in
Licking County, Ohio, Harrison Twp., and in 1860 and 1870 census they were
living in Licking County, Ohio, Lima twp. Burial Records of Pataskala
Presbyterian Church lists James W. Shambaugh drowned in the Potomac River,
July 19, 1864. Pataskala Cemetery Records show James W. (son of J. and SA)
Shambaugh died July 18, 1864, age 28 yrs. 6 mo. 3 days. Veteran 1861-1865.
The above James W., drowned in the Patomac must have been a son of James
and Sarah.
