Hello everyone,
My CHAMBERS come from Nottinghamshire, England. I've been lurking on
this list for quite a while and wondered whether anybody else has
English CHAMBERS?
I go back to a William CHAMBERS marrying a Martha DRAPER in 1785 in
Langar, Nottinghamshire.
William & Martha had six children, Robert (1784-1867)(my gt gt gt
grandfather), Elizabeth (b.1787), Martha (b.1789), William (b.1791),
Mary (b.1792) & Sarah (b.1798)
Robert CHAMBERS married Mary KEMP in 1808 at Kinoulton, Nottinghamshire,
and they had 9 children, including a set of twins. Robert and Mary's
first born son was William CHAMBERS (1813-1877). He married Elizabeth
SMITH in 1839 at Barton in Fabis, Nottinghamshire, and they had 7
children, all boys.
William & Elizabeth's second born son was Walter.
Walter CHAMBERS (1843-1919) married Mary SCRIMSHAW in 1863 at Cotgrave,
Nottinghamshire, and they had 13 children, including my gt grandfather,
Arthur (child No. six).
When Walter and Mary's brood flew the nest they did a very good job - I
can't find them. Maybe some went to America; or Canada; or Australia;
or New Zealand - anywhere else in fact - I don't know.
If any of these CHAMBERS names ring any bells with any of you, please
contact me, I'd love to know where they went and I'd love to know where
they were originated from; I'd love to break down the brick walls.
Thanks.
Sue
