Message Board Post:
I am researching an African American family, surname Chambers, who lived in Okmulgee
County, Oklahoma in the late 1890s through 1914 or so. They lived in Beggs, Muskogee, and
Okmulgee. The patriarch's name was Pierce C. Chambers. His wife's name was
Maggie Chambers (maiden name was perhaps Coffo). They had several children: Azellee
Chambers, Inola Chambers, and Rosa Chambers were the daughters, and they had at least one
son named McKinley Chambers. Pierce, his daughters, and his son moved to Los Angeles,
Calif. sometime in 1914 or 1915 and remained there at least throughout the 1920s, 1930s
and 1940s. It seems that Maggie Chambers may have died and been buried in Oklahoma
(perhaps Okmulgee County, either Beggs or Muskogee). If you can help me with any
information, photos, etc., I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
