It's me again. I send the wills this morning and said I would look up
some info. I have the book Fifty Families, A History by Nancy Chambers
Underwood which includes the John Chambers Family of York County. I
don't believe the J.S. Chambers that's being discussed on the Chambers
Board is the same family or something is being left out. According to
Nancy, John Chambers was from Ireland and migrated to Pa. His son John
(b 1742 , d 12-27-1802) moved to York Co. Sc and is buried Beersheba
Church . Married Elizabeth Rutter. His son John, Jr. (b9-4-1772,
d-9-4-1854) buried at Beersheba. Married Margaret Smith. He had a son
named John that was a M.D. (b6-15,1797) and was never married. There
were some Chambers mentioned that moved to Canton, Miss. but none
anywhere else. I know how confusing some of this can be but everything
I've ever come across on John S. Chambers in York county indicates the
family came directly to SC. However where they lived borders NC and
it's possible that some of their children could have been born in NC.
I'm sure the border wasn't well defined in those days. If I can look up
anything, I'll be happy to see what appears.
Take care, randy
