There were some CHAMBERS in St.Louis, MO in the mid 1800's....believe them
to be from Chambersburg, PA......if my memory is holding up here, I believe
that a CHAMBERS ran one of the early St.Louis newspapers.........would have
to find, then dig thru some very old notes. Want to say that there is a
CHAMBERS buried somewhere around Warrenton?, Mo who was a veteran of the
Revolution.

Paul, I have responded via email. Again, this is exactly the type of
information I'm looking for.
For everyone else ... as I shared in the email, my initial (read limited)
research indicated the Thomas Jefferson Chambers line (of Chambers County,
Texas) to descend from Thomas Chambers (b 1700 England). It looks like
Thomas from England may have died in Chambersburg, which may be causing the
confusion.
I have to admit, I found it more than curious another Chambers line wound up
in Chambersburg during its formative years. Although the area was settled
ca 1730, Chambersburg was not founded until 1762 and Franklin County was not
formed until 1784.
There are unsubstantiated rumors Benjamin Chambers (founder of Chambersburg)
had traveled back to England where he testified in the PA/MD dispute. The
story goes on about how he attempted to elicit other family members to
return with him. Perhaps this Thomas is related across the water ... but
then the fact the four brothers were originally from Ireland contradicts
this as well. Records in the PA archives indicate Benjamin's involvement in
the dispute was ca 1736. It takes a pretty wild imagination to have him
traveling back to England ... then Ireland ... then back to PA in the
1730's. :-)
