Hi to all,
My DNA linked me to the Chambers of Cades Cove, Tn. The Genealogist
for these chambers also think their ancesters came out of Burke Co. NC.
Elijah in the late 1700's early 1800's obtained a land grant in what
then was Burke Co but later became McDowell and then Haywood Co. NC.
According to a knowledgeable Chambers family member, he remembers his
grandfather telling him that we had relatives in Burke Co. NC who along
with other Chambers' and other families moved to Boonesboro, KY. Some
of these Chambers evidenually moved into TN. I am 99,9% certain that
I'm kin to the James A. Chambers (b1814SC) of Habersham, Ga. This
recent confirmation, has lead me to Chambers in Monroe,Cherokee and
Polk Co. TN Chambers and Blount County ALA (and probably Madison Co.
ALa) Chambers are are reported from this line. I'm hoping that some
from this family will also submit a DNA sample for direct confirmation.
My line consist of Moses Chambers, babt1795-98SC; James Clifton
Chambers b1838Ga (first wife Sarah Busby who died in 1875 giving birth
to twin. JC then married Elizabeth Hannah babt1853Tn) who gave birth
to my gf Charles Noah Chambers b1882) The Chambers in Cades Cove and
Habersham used the Charley name in the family. My ggf's Children were
Robert, John Green, Leander (Lee Ander), Annie, George W. and Charley
N, Henry and Minnie by his second wife.
According to family historians in Habersham, many Chambers left after
the Civil War and moved to Texas and probably Oklahoma. My uncle James
C. Chambers (named after his Grandfather) lived in Oklahoma City until
his death 5 years ago. He reported to me that my ggf had a brother
named William Joseph (Joe) Chambers babt1838 that moved to Texas. I
have not been able to find this particular William. If he moved prior
to the Civil war, I found two that died while in Fort Douglas in
Chicago that were from Texas. My ggf was a prisoner there for over two
years and I wonder how he survived considering the cruel treatment they
received.
Hope this helps a little. Seems like every time the US opened up new
territory the Chambers were ready and willing to move.
Regards,
Randy Chambers

My Chambers, according to census records were also in Tennessee and
Indiana. A researcher who wrote in the Wright County Heritage book
says that our line comes out of either Elijah or Elisha Chambers. I
suspect my line comes out of Burke County NCAR since other connecting
lines do also.
Mine also lived in Pope County, Arkansas.
Jacob's full name was Jacob Bennett Chambers. I suspect that Nancy
from Jacob's father's marriage was probably a Bennett since he was the
first son and that the norm was to give that son his mother's maiden
name as a middle. My grandmother was buried in our local cemetery in a
large plot of other Chambers folks.
I have given only the direct lines but can supply sibling names, also.
When I looked back in Lumpkin/Cherokee County GA, there was an older
Chambers named Andrew. I feel like he probably connects to my line but
I just don't know how to connect up.
There has been a lot of Chambers information through the years, so I
can really hope that, although we have no surviving male for the DNA
test, someone from a connecting line is going to do the test and solve
my decade of Chambers puzzle. In 1840, there were three Chambers men
in Pulaski MO which a part of that became Wright County: John, James
and my Jacob before he married.

Frank (or Willis Frank) Chambers was born in Arkansas about 1855 and
moved to
Erath, Texas according to the 1880 census. By 1900, he was in
Seminole Nation
and made a homestead in what is now Caddo County, OK. His son, John
Willis
Chambers, continued to farm the homestead for the rest of his life and
it is
still in the family. My great-grandfather, Everett Bervie Chambers,
is John
Willis' son. I do not know anything before Frank. Don't know his
parents, etc.
Thanks,
Kimberly
