We are searching for information about our G.Grandfather and G.Grandmother. He was John
Chambers; she was Margaret Armstrong. According to a medical history of one of their
daughters, Alma Elizabeth Chambers (McKinnon), born in Tatamagouch, Nova Scotia in 1879,
(our Grandmother), John came to Nova Scotia from England and Margaret Armstrong came to
Nova Scotia from Scotland. This medical record would suggest they married in Nova Scotia
after arriving there separately. John and Margaret had six known children: James T. (b.
Unkn, d. Unkn); Mona (b.1863, d. 1929); Alma Elizabeth (b. 1879, d. 1947); Margaret (b,
Unkn, d. Unkn); Jessie (b. Unkn, d. Unkn) and possibly one other child, name unknown,
James married Katherine MacLeod. Mona married William McKinnon (brother of my
grandfather, Edward McKinnon). Edward married Alma. Margaret Chambers married Edward
Bell, and Jessie married a man surnamed Cole. Dates are unknown for any marriage. Known
surnames from decedents of these unions probably survive. Known possible surviving
surnames are: Garrison; Judd; Buckhorn; Currie; Sprague; Gallagher; Gray; Bell; and Cook.
We are anxious to determine the actual birthplaces of John Chambers and his wife, Margaret
Armstrong Chambers. We would also be interested in the ancestry of each. And, we would
obviously be interested in discovering a missing relative or two.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
