Eleanor, I have been going through files on the Chambers and here is
what I have found so far. I will try to make this as unconfusing as
possible. I have a James A. Chambers (listed in other reports as James
Chambers), born 1728 in Scotland (son of Reynolds (Runnels) Chambers and
grandson of Alexander Chambers. This James ,I have as married to Nancy
Windsor, Nancy Vinzor and Nancy Winzor. They married about 1750 in Burke
Co., NC. Children of this union are: ?David, ?Issac, Asa (moved to IN
in 1818), Lydia, Elizabeth, Elijah (born 1772 in MD and married Rebecca
Moore, moved to Owen Co., IN about 1817), Rachael and Elisha (both born
in MD). (The ? were on the report sent and I assume mean it is
questionable if they are sons)
Then I have James Chambers married to Nancy Tracey and Nancy Windsor
with a child Enoch Lewis Chambers, born 1778 in MD. Enoch moved to Ky
for about 4 years and then by 1812 was in Fayette, IN.
Both Elijah and Enoch had sons named James (both born 1804 in NC) and
Jesse (Elijah's Jesse was born 1802 in NC and Enoch's Jesse was born
1807 in KY). I have information on both Enoch's James and Jesse (my
line) and Elijah's James and Jesse as I once thought Elijah's James and
Jesse were my direct descendants. Now I know my James and Jesse were
sons of Enoch.
Since Elijah and Enoch were both born in Maryland, and some reports show
Enoch's parents as James and Nancy Windsor Chambers, I think that Enoch
may be a brother of Elijah. Elijah's family moved to Collin (Grayson
Co.) TX as did the descendants of Enoch. Due to all of this, there has
to be a connection. The question is, can we find it. I have some
geneology reports from FTM and two sent to me some time ago by other
Chambers researching also. I would be happy to send these to you , if
you want them, and will give me your address. I think I will also
forward this email to the chambersgroup message board to see if anyone
can help. Patty
