Message Board Post:
I think William H. Pressey had a sister named Sarah Pressey who married William H. Lamb in
1878 in Knox county, Indiana.
Concerning the Indian Pressey - yes sometimes on census records that was used instead of
an Indian name - but I have also found out the names India and Indiana were often used.
I do know that Peter Pressy then married an Elizabeth - so I am assuming that India,
Indian or Indiana died - though sometimes people did get divorced.
I have found Peter and Elizabeth listed on census records with 3 girls names - I traced
some of the girls - so I have no idea if Sarah's name was incorrect on the census or
if she was left off.
Pressey is an unusual name - especially in Indiana - and I have found few people who could
be Sarahs parents. If Peter Pressy is her father - then she would have been born right
after William H. Pressey. Perhaps India? died in childbirth.
Do you know if William H. Pressey had a sister named Sarah or any sisters at all. Do you
have his death record or obiturary?
I think that Peter Pressey's father was Charles Pressy.
I have had a hard time finding info on my William H. Lamb and Sarah Ann Pressy Lamb - they
seem to be my brick wall.
On the marriage info for them - she did not list her parents - his are listed but sort of
by nickname - so I am having quite a battle to find information.
I do know most of the family seemed to stay in southern Indiana - near Knox, Pike and
Parke counties. You might want to look at Daviees county - I seem to remember a William
H. Pressey on a census there. But then again there could be more than one person with the
same name.
We might have gaps we could fill in for each other on this too.
It is possible we are distant cousins!
