You are wonderful! I had not even thought about pursuing that route with the cousin. I
did with Albert but then just forgot about Richard the cousin. I'm on it!
I tried to find a SS number for any Doris Chambers/Schwartz and was unsuccessful. Also,
if she died as early as I think, about 1928, she would not have one. She was listed as
'housewife' on the birth certificate for Albert. I found one death notice in the
Illinois records for a Doris Schwartz who died in 1928 so I ordered that. I was not able
to ascertain the age of that Doris before I ordered it and when I got the birth
certificate....drat....it was for a 12 year old girl.
Thank you .....thank you twice!!! I'm off to pursue Richard one more time.

More than likely, Doris did not have a social security number. Many
women of that time period never applied for one as they "only" worked
in
the home and didn't receive a salary. They were relying of the
husband's social security pension.
If you believe that the notice about the cousin dying is the right one,
you could try to get additional info through the obits in Redwood City,
CA. He may have descendants who have info. Try for an obit for him.
That should also state the funeral home that handled his funeral.
Funeral home records are great. They usually state the minister who
officiated (leading to a church affiliation) and surviving family
members. Most funeral homes charge a very small fee for copies of
funeral records. I've had some for free and up to $5 per record.
Again, these are just suggestions. They are ways I've been able to
locate information for my family tree.

Also, on the online info you found for Doris Chambers, have you tried to
contact the person who posted it? An email might bounce, but, what the
heck. It just might help you make a connection.
