As we approach a new year, I thought I'd resend my Chambers connections in the
hopes that any new members might recognize an ancestor. Happy New Year to all.

Chambers Family
First Generation
1. James1 Chambers birth date unknown. He died circa 1815.
He married Maragret Fee. It is not clear if James and Maragret where
married before coming to America or after arriving here.
They lived in Chambersburg, Pa before moving on the Cynthiana, Ky.
She died after 1815. She was of Scotchish descent.
James was a stone mason. James was a Scotch Irishman who emigrated to the
United States with his two brothers around the close of the Revolutionary
War.They landed in Philadelphia, Pa and separated.
James Chambers and Maragret Fee had the following children:
2 i. Jane2 Chambers. She married Nathaniel Campbell in 1807 in Harrison
Co, KY.
3 ii. Martha Chambers. She married Jacob Lindley in 1814 in Harrison Co,
KY. They moved to Mansfield, OH shortly after the marriage.
4 iii. Matilda Chambers. She apparently never married and lived to be
quite old.
+ 5 iv. James Chambers Jr was born October 25, 1790.
Second Generation
5. James2 Chambers Jr (James1) was born in Chambersburg, PA October 25,
1790. He died August 6, 1873 in Charleston, IL, at 82 years of age. He is
buried in the Chambers Cemetery.
He married twice. He married Sarah Rankin July 11,1813. Sarah was born
January 12, 1794 in Cynthiana, KY. Sarah was the daughter of Thomas Rankin
and Hannah Jane Montgomery. She died March 30, 1855 in Charleston, IL, at 61
years of age. He married Lavinia Falls September 17, 1857 in Charleston, IL.
James was a stone mason. He also was a taven keeper, owned a store and a
hotel.
During the War of 1812 ( 1812), James served in Wm Brown's Kentucky Militia.
He moved to Charleston, IL in 1851. He traveled in a two horse wagon with
his wife and children, Hannah Amanda and James. The information on James and
Sarah's children is from Chambers Family Genealogy, unless otherwise
indicated.
James Chambers Jr and Sarah Rankin had the following children:
6 i. William Mortimer3 Chambers was born in Cynthiana, KY April 11,1814.
He died after 1887. He married twice. He married C.A.Porter in the spring
of 1837 in Pulmansville, KY. He married Mary B F Ingles after 1840. Mary
was born in 1827 in Kentucky.
William was a physician. He practiced in Harrison County and Covington,
Ky before moving to Charleston. He was a Brigade Surgeon during the Civil War
and was associated with various important medical societies in his later
years.
During the Civil War (1861 to 1865), William was an officer in the the
Division of the Cumberland. He was rewarded with the brevet of Colonel.
+ 7 ii. Thomas Gavin Chambers was born January 22, 1816.
8 iii. James Chambers was born September 18, 1817. He died in August
1819. He died as the result of an accidental poisioning.
9 iv. Maragret Jane Chambers was born October 8, 1819. She died August
30, 1849 at 29 years of age.
10 v. Mary Ellen Chambers was born July 25, 1821. She died January 30,
1899 at 77 years of age. She married James McCrary May 20, 1838. James was
born November 16, 1814. He died September 29, 1897 at 82 years of age.
11 vi. Martha Ann Chambers was born March 15, 1824. She died in 1830.
12 vii. Hannah Amanda Chambers was born July 26, 1826. She married John
Monroe on November 6, 1854.
13 viii. Sarah Belle Chambers was born October 10, 1829.
14 ix. James Andrew Chambers was born May 6, 1831. He married Mary Ann
Curd. He died as a result of an overdose of morphine taken to relieve a
headache.
Third Generation
7. Thomas Gavin3 Chambers (James2, James1) was born January 22, 1816. He
died October 16, 1897 in Charleston, IL, at 81 years of age.
He married Olivia Monroe March 12, 1840 in Charleston, IL. Olivia was born
December 7, 1820 in Glasgow, KY. Olivia was born 4 days after her father
died. Olivia was the daughter of John Monroe Jr and Lucy Rogers.
She died August 6, 1894 in Charleston, IL, at 73 years of age.
He moved to Charleston, IL in 1837. He traveled on horseback in the company
of Capt B F Jones.
Thomas Gavin Chambers and Olivia Monroe had the following children:
+ 15 i. Alice4 Chambers was born January 3, 1841.
16 ii. Henrie Chambers was born September 16, 1842. He married Clara R
Conditt December 31, 1867.
During the Civil (1861 to 1865), Henrie served in the 54th Illinois Vol
Infantry. He served as a Sergeant in C Company.
17 iii. John James Chambers was born October 9, 1844. He died September
1, 1868 at 23 years of age. He married Sarah Ann Worley May 7, 1868. They
apparently had no children.
18 iv. Sarah Belle Chambers was born January 4, 1847. She married David
H Calvert July 5, 1870.
19 v. George Rogers Chambers was born February 22, 1849. He married
Frances A Moss October 17, 1872. Frances was born August 28, 1852.
20 vi. Lucy Chambers was born September 10, 1851. She died as an infant.
21 vii. William Motimer Chambers was born November 15, 1852. He died
March 4, 1894 at 41 years of age. He apparently never married.
22 viii. Thomas G Chambers Jr was born June 27, 1855. He died July 26,
1874 at 19 years of age.
23 ix. Maragret Chambers was born November 12, 1857. She married Charles
L Ricketts January 17, 1882.
24 x. Nancy Chambers was born May 4, 1860. She married William N Hill
March 1, 1884.
25 xi. Alfred Chambers was born October 18, 1863. He died February 22,
1893 at 29 years of age. He apparently never married.
Fourth Generation
15. Alice4 Chambers (Thomas Gavin3, James2, James1) was born in Charleston,
IL January 3, 1841. She died October 13, 1900 in Charleston, IL, at 59 years
of age. She is buried in the Chambers Cemetery in Charleston, IL.
She married Joseph Allen Parker October 29, 1860 in Coles Co, IL. Joseph
was born January 1, 1837. Joseph was the son of Nathaniel Parker and
Elizabeth (Betsy) Lockard. He died March 24, 1916 in Charleston, IL, at 79
years of age. He is buried in the Chambers Cemetery in Charleston, IL. (The
information on Joseph and Alice's children is from a Parker Family profile and
the Dice-Parker Family Bible unless otherwise indicated)
Alice Chambers and Joseph Allen Parker had the following children:
26 i. John James5 Parker was born in Charleston, IL August 11, 1861. He
died April 13, 1928 in Indiana, at 66 years of age. He married Ella Diehl May
11, 1891 in Olatha, KS.
John was a Physician. He resided in Olatha, KS in 1900. He resided in
Mulberry, KS in 1922.
27 ii. Joseph Allen Parker Jr was born in Tuscola, IL February 23, 1863.
He died in 1926. Joseph is buried in Chambers Cemetery at Charleston, IL. He
married Cora Miller August 20,1889 Kokomo, IN. He was a merchant in
Charleston IL and had one son, Dale M.
28 iii. Thomas Gavin Parker was born in Independence, MO August 11, 1865.
He died in Portsmouth, Va. He married Maggie V Thomas November 2, 1892 in
Portsmouth, Va.
29 iv. Benjamin F Parker II was born in Independence, MO July 26, 1869.
He died August 17, 1922 at 53 years of age. He was killed by lighting while
working on the home of a friend.
Benjamin was a Carpenter. He was operating a furniture repair shop at the
time of his death.
30 v. Olivia Betsy Parker was born in Charleston, IL July 22, 1871. She
died March 15, 1955 in Norfolk, Va, at 83 years of age. She is buried in the
Forest Lawn Cemetery. She married Oscar Jacob Dice September 5, 1894 in
Charleston, IL. They were married at eight o'clock in the evening in the
home of the brides brother, J A Parker.
Oscar was born November 18, 1869 in Charleston, IL. Oscar was the son of
Jacob Dice and Phoebe Van Sickle. He died March 11, 1957 in Norfolk, Va, at
87 years of age. He is buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. They lived in
Charleston, IL, Fredericksburg, VA, Richmond, VA and Norfolk, VA.
31 vi. William Martin Parker was born in Charleston, IL February 2, 1874.
He died September 4, 1922 in Portsmouth, Va, at 48 years of age. He married
Harriett Hogston November 11, 1900. He served in the Spanish American War
from Mattoon, IL. They had three children, Martin Issac, Alice Elnora and
William.
32 vii. George C Parker was born in Charleston, IL June 18, 1876. He died
March 20, 1919 at 42 years of age. He married Martha Green in 1904.
33 viii. Nathaniel Parker was born in Charleston, IL December 2, 1878. He
died January 15, 1879 at less than one year of age.
34 ix. Mary Alice Parker was born in Charleston, IL April 1, 1880. She
died in Portsmouth, Va. She married Joseph A Phelps May 31, 1899. Their
children were Joseph and Hugh. Joseph married Nell Payne and their children
were Richard, Joan (Hugh Russell) and Betty Jo (JS Bartlett).
35 x. Lillian Parker was born in Charleston, IL October 8, 1882. She is
presumed to have been retarded.
