I first wrote the Chambers list and quoted verbatim from
"Chester Co. Heritage History Vol.II "(1995). The article is on page 82
and is entitled "David Dickey Chambers-some ancestors, decendents". The
quote was from the third paragraph and begins; "The Scotch- Irish
family of Chambers who became David's forbears........" . The article
goes on to name the the forbears as: four bros ,to wit, James,
Robert, Joseph, and Benjamin. According to the piece: the 4 bros came
from co. Antrim, Ire. to Philadelphia Pa.and settled first on the
Susquhanna River at Harpers Ferry." Benjamin moved further west in 1730
and became the first white man in the Cumberland Valley. He settled in a
place he called Falling Springs, which later became Chambersburg."
All this is beautiful and a well written article, but Marion Chambers
(wife of my brother, D.P. Chambers ) presented no proof to the publisher
of anything in her submission . So we are left to speculate as to any
relationship to the 4 illustrious Brothers.
I am certain that Marion did not intend to mislead anyone ; nor did I
when I quoted her article. Does anyone out there know the relationship
between the 4 brothers and David Chambers (B.abt 1755, D.abt 1808) or
any other Chambers in SC or Pa. about that time? Thank you for any
enlightenment. Til I get a responce to this conundrum I am without a
clue. Thank you for reading this explanation. Yours for a better
answer, I am, Stover Chambers 8-7-2001. P.S. I
think some of the confusion was exasperated when I confused ,
inadvertently, and unintentionally ,my GGGGgrandfather( David Chambers)
(D.1843), who never served in any war, for Rev war hero, David (B.abt
1755, D.abt1808) in stating: "My line, I believe, is ". Maybe someone
will straighten me out on that. Too dang many David Chambers'. Rest in
peace all you dead David C.s, we all still love you, respect you, and
cherish your memory. We would not be here except for you .
