John M. Chambers is the son of my David Chambers,my GGG grandfather,
(died before 1841) as was Wm H. Chambers (died before 1849), my GG
grandfather.
John M. received the following from the sale of David's property: "
one bay horse" worth $80.00. All this information comes from one legal
paper , a "sale bill", (1841) which was administered by Sam Reid who
reported to one Benjamin Chambers,Esquire, Ordinary for the District of
York, state of SC. the reference is: case # 68, file 3336. Other than
checking the 1840, 1850, and 1860 census for York District ,SC for Wm
H,Andrew J, and John M. Chambers, I have no other data. My wife and I
have been ferreting out her line (Strickland) and have been pretty busy.
We will visit the library after I recover from my eye operation (
cataract removal and lens implant) scheduled for tomorrow. There seems
to be such a great interest in the Chambers clan that I will post all
my family data ( along with appropriate documentation ) on the Chambers
List @ roots web in Sept. 2001. I am looking forward to researching
the 1930 census when it comes out in 2002. The librarian at the
Charlotte,N.C. tells me that they may get only the NC part.
She said they don't have room for the rest. Good luck in fining your
John M. Chambers. There sure are a lot of Johns , aren"t there? Glad
my name is Stover. Stover
