I'm searching for my ggf relatives. His name was James Clifton Chambers
and was bGa 1838 dGa 1911. He list his father as being bSC. In 1860 he
was living in Hancock Co. Ga with new wife next to Moses Chambers bSC abt
1798 d1860's GA and his family. I've found Moses in Polk Co TN and in Ga.
In 1850 Moses was in Jackson Co. Ga. and had a son James E. Chambers
(haven't been able to located this James E. - who was born in Ga about the
same time as my James C.(I wonder if he could actually be my James C.).
James children were
John Green, Robert, Thomas, George and Anne (twins born in 1875) mother
(Sarah Busby Chambers) died giving birth in Olgethorpe C. Ga. Children by
James with second wife Elizabeth (Lizzie) Hannah Chambers bTN 1853.
Married in Clarke Co. 1878, children are Charley Noah, Henry and Minnie.
Thomas told his grandson that we had relatives in Burke County, NC and
that many of them left Burke County and migrated to Boonesville, KY. I've
yet been able to determine who these Chambers were. He also said that We
had cousins in Pickens Co., SC. My grandfather, Noah, told my brother
that our family came from Pa..
A recent DNA match on Rootsweb with Herman Chambers of California seems to
indicate that I'm probably kin to the Chambers from Cades Cove, TN and the
surrounding area. Herman also indicated that he had relatives in Burke
County, NC and possibly Randolph County, NC.
He list his descentants as Lafayette Chambers, Charley Chambers and Moses
Chambers. I don't know if we're talking about the same Moses or not. Do
you have any of these Chambers in your family??
Best Regards,
Randy Chambers
