Subject: Re: [CHAMBERS] How to Join the Chambers DNA group
I have been fairly quiet on this list, but this is a subject that I am very
passionate about, so here goes:
My father was kind enough to give a sample of his YDNA to help further my
research. Honestly you can only get so far with a paper trail until you
start
to reach the infamous brick wall. You can certainly make guesses and
wonder
if you are on the right trail, but once you reach a certain period of time
it
becomes harder and harder to make any connection with any confidence.
In my opinion, the Chambers' DNA Project is a wonderful place to pass
through these brick walls. As more of us join the project we will gain a
better
understanding of our deep ancestral roots. If nothing more than the
process
of elimination, we will be able to focus our efforts with more confidence
and
start to tear down the walls.
I am absolutely no expert in anthrogenealogy, but for those of you
interested in joining, this is basically a science of genealogy by
genetics. My
father inherited his yDNA, from his father and his father from his father,
and so
on and so on. So in short, if you are male and your last name is Chambers'
you are candidate for the project. If you are a female whose maiden name is
Chambers you can do what I did, ask a brother, father, uncle or cousin.
If for some reason you are shy about sharing your DNA, don't be. The
project
does not give names only numbers. Your privacy will be respected to the
fullest. The project administrator has done a wonderful job and as Randy
said
I encourage everyone to check out her website at

I myself, would like to share more information, so for those of you that
are
participants in the project I encourage you to contact me off this list at
_rchamb4402(a)aol.com_ (mailto:rchamb4402@aol.com) . To my knowledge there
are
over 30 of us in the project, maybe now is the time to share information!
