LINCOLN -- Jean Carmen Chambers, 77, formerly of Petersburg, died Wednesday, July 20,
2005, at 3:06 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Chambers donated her body to medical science. A celebration of life for family and
friends will be on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Lincoln Masonic Temple.
Mrs. Chambers worked in the activities department at Lincoln Developmental Center,
Mary-Henry Nursing Home and Lincolnland Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 21, 1928, in Jerseyville to Albert and Mattie Louise Carmack Taylor. She
married William Robert Chambers on Aug. 12, 1948, in Springfield. He preceded her in
death.
She is survived by one son, Eric Chambers of Lincoln; two daughters, Lori (and Steve)
Frazier of Lincoln and Tami (and Mark) Kennett of Emden; two granddaughters, Catherine
Nicole Frazier and Casey Nicole Kennett; and one brother, Frederick B. Taylor of
Sacramento, Calif.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Beverly Rohrer.
She was a member of the League of Women Voters and a former precinct committee member in
Broadwell Township.
She was an avid fossil hunter, loved to read and work crossword puzzles, and was an avid
yard sale hunter. At one time she freelanced for the Lincoln Courier with yard sales
tips.
Memorials may be made to Logan County Animal Shelter, American Society for the Prevention
of Cruelty to Animals or Central Illinois Economic Development Corporation.
