WOMAN PIONEER OF STATE IS DEAD
Mrs. Margaret White Chambers Came to Thurston County in 1854
Mrs. Margaret White Chambers, 78 years old, a pioneer of Thurston County, and for two
years a resident of Seattle, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles L. Denny,
Fortieth avenue north and East Prospect street, yesterday.
Came West in '54
Mrs. Chambers, nee White, was born in Terre Haute, Ind., in 1833. In 1854 she came West
and settled in Thurston County.
A year later she was married to Andrew Chambers, a rancher and cattle raiser, and removed
to Chambers Prairie, in Thurston county, where she remained until her husband's death,
two years ago. She then moved to Seattle, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Denny,
where she died yesterday.
Survived by Six Daughters
She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. James Hunsaker, of Everett; Mrs. Robert Grainger,
of Sumner; Mrs. George Talcott, of Olympia; Mrs. W. T. Hoskins, of Sacramento, Cal; Mrs.
Charles Denny and Mrs. W. M. Calhoun of Seattle.
Mrs. Chambers was a member of the Pioneer Association and the Congregational church.

Funerals
Chambers - At the residence of her daughter, Mrs. C. L. Denny, 1032 Fortieth avenue north,
December 22, 1911. Mrs. Margaret White Chambers, aged 78 years. The remains will be
shipped to Olympia for interment this afternoon, by Bonney - Watson Company.
