Those male names are pretty common in the Chambers families in Georgia. Maybe they are related. I know some of them went to Sabine County, TX around the time of the Civil War.

I really don't know. The only thing I know about James' background is that he is listed on the 1880 census in Brown Co., TX as having been born in Louisiana. I know nothing about his parents or siblings or where they might have lived before Louisiana. I am VERY interested, though, in your branch, because of the Indian bloodline. Haven't found any other besides the one I am searching. Will hang on to your note!

Are any of the members of your Chambers line related to Chambers in Fulton Co., Illinois??? There is a line over there that ties into Indian bloodline.
They are only connected by distant marriage to me. But I have tried to find the connection for years between the two families. Have not found one yet.
Just curious.

I finally found James son Jesse on the Dawes Roll, Card 4803, roll 27749. He is 1/2 Cherokee by Blood, and is listed as Jesse S (not F) Chambers, and is listed in the family of William W Chambers (as his son!) with 2 other boys whose names I didn't recognize. That is why I had eliminated him as being "my" Jesse. But his mother's name was listed as "Paralee"--which I had just learned was his mother's middle name. Too unusual a name for it not to be my guy. Since I had also just learned that his parents had been murdered when he was 5 and he had been sent to OK to live with CHAMBERS relatives, it made sense.

I am looking for some information on James Campbell Chambers. I know his son was Norman Campbell Chambers who was a Titanic survivor. I am looking for full family history on these too. I would like to see if there is a relation between me and them. Any help would be appreciated.

Three Rootsweb lists I'm on had similar one-line link messages today. One definitely had a Trojan horse in it if you clicked the link. In each message, the "To:" line had multiple unrelated addresses, a number of them Rootsweb lists. Moral of the story: never click unidentified links like this.

James and Mary were in Brown, TX on the 1880 Census, with ch. Margaret E., Fannie E., Elijah, Paralee, Jesse, and George W. Dodson. Parents were murdered soon after census and children were split up. The boys went to OK to be raised by Chambers relatives; the girls stayed in Texas and were raised by Dodsons.
James is listed as a full-blood Indian on the 1880 census. (Mary is listed as white.) I desperately need to know the name of the tribe.

Is this really a link from Dona or has the chambers group been hacked?

To all those searching for a death date for Calvin J Chambers (born in North Carolina in the early 1800s) --
Many Ancestry Family Trees indicate that he died in 1860 in Georgia; however, I recently found him on the in the following document:
"Georgia, Returns of Qualified Voters and Reconstructin Oath Books, 1867-1868" Registration shown for Joshua Shields, Calvin J Chambers, James J Chambers and Harris W Chambers" in Precinct No. 1011, County of Murray, ... 43rd Election District" In County and State "Twelve Months". Registration date was June 28, 1867.
His wife Susan is a widow in the 1870 Census, living with son Roswell Juan Chambers and his wife Mary Ann Shields Chambers in Spring Place, Murray County, Georgia.
Therefore, his death occurred between 1867 and 1870, likely in Murray County, Georgia.

Seven days in the Jefferson county Archvies in July 2011 found records for James C., Campbell, Camel, J C, etc. No Cameron found anywhere. No one I've written to in the last 8 years has any documentation on Cameron. As a non-family member who copies from everyone asked, "Well what else could "Cam" stand for except Cameron?" Maybe that's how he got Cameron.
Yes, we still think he's the son of John Edmonds and Fanny whatever-her-last-name-UNPROVEN is.
