Russ,
Are you related to John Bagwell Chambers b 1859 who lived in Cape Charles in early 1920's? He was my great-grandfather; married Mary Lavenia Bennett b. 1874. Their daughter, Janie Maybelle Chambers was my grandmother - she married a Bundick. Thanks for any info. Sharon

Yes. I'm still reseaching.
As far as I know, none of the other members of Paul Curling Chambers family headed sotuh to Texas, but I could be wrong.
My mom tells me they rarely had any visitors from Trigg County to where her and her family lived near New Madrid, MO, and they never went back to Trigg County for any funerals or family functions.
With this kind of "closeness" in the family I can't really say where any of his family went, other than my grandfather Oliver Chambers or his brother Benjamin in Sikeston!

I am not sure which era you two are talking about but the reference to Paul Curling Chambers brought up for m the Curlin(g) family of Halifax County, NC. Thomas Prince CURLIN was born 5 aug 1798 Halifax County, NC died 2 Apr 1887 Union City, Obion County, Tn. His son, Jackson Valentine CURLIN was a teacher and moved to Moreau, Montieau Co, Mo in 1880 (he is on BOTH 1880 censuses, then not long before 1900 census moved to Lufkin, Angelina Co, Tx.
The family name was sometimes spelled CURLING in NC but the G was dropped in Tennessee and was not used thereafter. However, this is only one line of the NC family and I have not researched any of them YET as my primary BATES family of York County, SC has taken most of my time lately.
In this time period, it was extremely common for at least one son to get the mother's maiden name as his middle name plus many times another son would get the one of the grandmother's maiden names. Is there any possibility that your Paul Curling CHAMBERS mother's or grandmothers' maiden name could be CURLING? and may be related to Thomas Prince CURLIN?
