Major James Chambers did not come to America as faras I know. His sons James, Robert, Joseph and Benjamin came with his four daughters. in 1726.
I am seeking the name of one of the daughters who married John Thompson. Do you have any info about the woman?

Roger,
Thank you for your kind reply. These Chambers are a part of that family line but too late for what I need. I need a 'tie' to Robert Chambers, born 1742-1814, and his son Maxwell,1793-1868. Robert had 6 sons and everyone named their sons-Robert-Henry-Maxwell, etc. Then Henry had 5 sons and did the same thing. A lot of Maxwell's running around in Indian Territory. Same with Robert's wife, Lettice Boyd. A dozen Lettice or Lettie Boyd Chambers. This family did the traditional thing of naming their children after the ancesters. Going to search microfilm for probate and estate settlements in Hancock Co., GA where Robert died in 1814. Thank you for trying to help.

Connie - Thank you VERY much. I have been trying to determine if Doris is the mother of my husband's father and have never been able to absolutely prove this is the Doris, daughter of Jesse and Belle, listed on his birth certificate but I feel that she is. Also she is supposed to have been killed in a car crash when my husband's father was quite young and I have never been able to prove that. She would have been married to Harry Schwartz when she was killed - possibly around 1929, and probably living in the state of Illinois if not in Indiana. Your information is wonderful and I thank you for taking the time to send it to me! If I can be of any assistance to you in your searches, I would be delighted. Thank you again. Darla

Roger,
Seems you know more than anyone else on this message board regarding the Chambers...except me! :-) I am an avid Chambers researcher being a Chambers myself. Maxwell and Elsie Sanders are my ggg grandparents. Seems someone on this board thinks Lettice Boyd was the Cherokee connection.
Not hardly. I am working on tying my Maxwell to Robert & Lettice Boyd for my DAR membership. I have family history and all of the 'stuff' on the internet on this family but no definitive, positive link to son & father. I have ordered microfilm of Hancock County Estate and Probate records for years 1806-1815. Hoping to find the link there.
Chambers (white side) papers are on file at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Doesn't help me. As soon as Maxwell married a Cherokee the family tie was broken. I am involved in the Trail of Tears Association in OK and we have done Memorial Markings to the children of Maxwell. I would like to share information with you and would love to know if you have proof of the tie to Maxwell & Robert. James and Maxwell would have been 1/2 brothers.
James was the son of Robert and Jane Batey as you probably know. Hoping to hear from you!

Hi Rita,
Good to hear from you. There was a Herman Chambers that lives in
California that submitted his DNA but never sent Charlene a family
tree. As you know that is a requirement to be listed in the DNA
results. Charlene connected me with Herman. He believes his family is
of Scottish decent as he's big a Scottish organization in California.
He just doesn't seem to be interested in developing a correspondence
with me. Herman is directly related to the Chambers of Cades Cove, TN
which include Moses, Alexander, Lafayette and Charley. I also know
that James A. Chambers was related to Chambers in Cherokee County Tn as
I have a letter to one of his relatives. I just can't find the link
that connects me to all these chambers. It would have been nice if the
census folks would have used full names instead of initials in the
1840's.
Do you think Harden is related to James C?? I know he was in the same
area as James C at times and was from SC.
Here's Herman Alexander Chambers email - ddg22etcm(a)hotmail.com

Randy
